He was dressed as he is described in scripture - a carpenter, a man of modest means; Jewish in ethnicity.

No, I'm here to discuss things with random people. Which may include a quota of mockery, 'tis true, on occasion, but that doesn't mean that when I ask a serious question, you can avoid it by pleading mockery. I don't know where you met Jesus. It could have been McDonalds. I have seen carpenters in there before, and Jesus was a man of the people, so why not? I often go to McDonalds myself. Why would I mock anyone for going to McDonalds?

Not personally, though, but you saw Satan's words on 't'internet, and he spake directly to thee, which is as good as hearing voices., if not better. And this is a meeting with Satan just as much as you ever had a meeting with god or Jesus. You just think I'm Satan, but it's a delusion, same as your god and Jesus meeting delusions.

There's no evidence he was a carpenter at all. The Greek word to describe Jesus and Joseph is 'tekton' which means more of a general 'craftsman', just as we might say someone is a 'builder' today.

If he was indeed a carpenter you would expect some reference to his craft in his teachings, but instead he repeatedly talks about stone-working. Further, wood was not a common commodity in such a dry, arid landscape as 1st-century Galilee. All buildings would have have been constructed of stone and mud, with thatched roofs. Carpenters would have been few and far between. More likely he was a stone labourer.

That's if you choose to believe the bible at all. A collection of ancient tales and myths and four contradictory canonical gospels thrown together by various religious figures at the Councils of Nicea according to what suited the agenda of the day, with an unknown number of gospels cast aside and deemed unworthy, at least one because it referred to Mary Magdalene as Jesus' favourite disciple, and another because it described Judas as the only disciple to truly understand his teachings and described his 'betrayal' as in accordance with Jesus' wishes. Of course, both these gospels contradicted the agenda of the early Christian church and were banished. The word of God? Indeed.

I have no problem with people having faith, but don't choose blind, unquestioning faith. There's plenty to question about the bible and Christianity, not the least of which is how the bible was put together, and how Christianity has been twisted and manipulated to nothing that would resemble anything a historical Jesus would have intended.

On another note, what's your view of the Nativity tale? A literal, historical account?

To be fair to kirkstaller, I myself have heard the voice of God. It was whilst I was suffering from a mild case of man flu. The same reassuring voice said to me, "It's okay young child, you will be healed of your flu shortly. Don't worry this won't hurt a bit, I will fix it". Next thing I know the died and the BBC are suing him for molestation.

Oh and he was wearing a tracksuit with pink shades for those interested but when I closed my eyes I swear it was the voice of Morgan Freeman.......then again Bruce Almighty was showing in the BBC green room :/

To be fair, if I hear a voice in my head telling me it's God, then it must be. As a rational person, I can obviously discount the possibility that I am having some form of hallucination, and despite the fact that it's just a disembodied noise in my head, clearly I can be certain it's not Satan, for example, because Satan wouldn't fib to me. No, a voice in my head is definitive proof that it is from a real person, and is in fact god. How much more proof do you want?

It would be hilarious if God 'visited' him wearing a black hooded cape with a scythe in hand shouting "YOUR NEXT".

Just to confirm we have proof that Jesus existed?
