You know, daft as it seems, a bankrupt giving advice on how to avoid debt is not as ridiculous as it sounds, it all depends on whether or not the person has a full understanding of how he came to be where he is - sometimes you have to go through a process to fully understand where you went wrong.

Beats me how anyone on an MEP's salary and expense account can go bankrupt.

Depends what business interests he's got his fingers into or whether he's guarantor to any business/party lending etc etc etc - not in the same league but the Tories/Labour/LibDems all need huge amounts of funding, if he's signed for any of it (how else would you get a bank overdraft as a political party) then he's left the door wide open for anyone to rob him blind.

According to the article, it's his former lawyers that were owed the money, and he claims he offered creditors a sort of reverse wonga - 48p in the £ deal over 5 years but was rejected.

Is that Geoffrey Boycott the former cricketer ? If so he lives not far from me.

So it must be a pretty significant sum, he offers to settle for almost half and they absolutely refuse - so will now scratch around his assets to try and raise some cash and he'll be in the clear twelve months from now ?

People should remember that Sir Geoff scored a ton in what he says was his best innings ever after that run out and that Randall scored the winning runs in the2nd innings with Geoff at the other end. His century in the next test at Headingley was his 100th first class ton and in the same game Randall took the catch to win the match and the Ashes. All part of the plan!

Having shared an England dressing room in the early 70's with Mr Boycott I can assure you all that he was not universally appreciated by his fellow players, as you'd expect he was very opinionated not just about batting performance but all aspects, picked up on every little mistake out in the field and let the miscreants know about it at the breaks, I once witnessed he and Alan Knott almost come to blows when he criticised one wicket keeping mistake - and I myself was accused of theft by him then when someone else pointed out his error he just stomped off in a mood, not big enough to apologise - no I'm not a fan
