The Swarm in conjunction with Supporters Direct have launched the SD Challenge Cup for Rugby League Supporters Trusts.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the inaugural Supporters Direct Rugby League Challenge Cup will take place on Sunday November 29th 2009 at Soccer Village in Milnrow, near Rochdale and I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to enter the competition.

The Challenge Cup will be an eight team TAG rugby league festival, and is intended to be a celebration of the supporters trust movement, whilst also giving trusts the opportunity to show off a few skills in the process!


The competition will be played under the RFL Tag Rugby League Laws (to follow) with the following alterations/additions:

· All matches will be played as 5-a-side

· Maximum squad size is 10

· Each team must have at least two female players on the pitch at all times

· All matches will be 15 minutes one way with no half time



All teams will be drawn at random into two groups. Dependent on placings in those groups, you will be entered into one of four finals to play for the Bowl, Plate, Shield or Cup. Following on from the finals, trophy presentations will take place in the bar at the venue. Each member of your squad will also receive a food voucher which you can exchange for a meal at the end of the games.



The competition is being organised in association with Rochdale Swarm, the supporter’s team of Hornets Rugby League. If any of you are new to tag rugby league, the Swarm have very kindly offered coaching sessions to anyone interested prior to the event. Please contact me for further details.



To enter a team, simply complete the attached entry form and return it to me by 1200 midday on Friday November 6th at the latest. All entries will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Big News!!

Paul Sculthorpe to present the trophies!!

Teams from Widnes, Salford, The RFL Media, Bradford Bulls(inc a few Lost Loiners!), Queensbury and Bulltagers along with the Swarm.

Also some reps from the Co-op turning up!!

Cant wait!!

Well done all the Swarm!! Our first trophy, and only a score away from the top prize.

Looks like another couple of teams for our Tag Festival, loads of new people introduced to Tag and a trophy to boot. Another good day for the Swarm.

Had a great afternoon in Milnrow , ta very much to the organisers for a brilliant event.
