that's gold! Pure comedy gold!
The letter might as well be titled "please ref the game to suit our teams game plan! Because we don't have a plan B"
I thought some of the rugby I've seen this year is as good as any in previous seasons!

| not just saints matches though is it.. how many other matches have been exciting.. i used to watch every game fri/sat on sky, now i don't bother, but watch the NL matches, as they tend to be more exciting..
anyone who thinks saints will fayre any better when the game is quicker is dillusional with our lack of pace, if anything we will probably we worse..
i just want to watch a bit of rugby that is entertaining, whoever is playing
what i suggest is you watch any game from 1997 - 2003 (a time where we won only 2 super leagues) and watch how much better the game is as a spectactle.. it's so much quicker

A word of sanity. The thing that is shocking about your team nowadays, is that kicking you to within your twenty metres is great tactics, because you simply don't seem to have the ability to go 80 yards to score any more.

Saints lack pace out wide, but around the ruck you're usually very quick which might be why the slower PTB has affected you more than some other teams. Saints should still have adapted quicker though.
The problem is that in SL we have usually had very quick PTB's that means teams can often make easy ground simply by diving to the ground, a quick play the ball and a scoot from dummy half. That in itself gets boring after a while too and doesn't encourage the halves to be as creative as they would have to be against a set defence.
Personally I say keep the PTB as it is now for about 5 years and see if it brings any benefits.

where as I get the feeling you just enjoy watching saints muller teams rather than seeing a contest where the out come isnt a for gone conclusion.

thanks for such a thought out response, rather than rantings from some of your other fans.. i get just as bored watching saints putting 50 on a team as anyone, this season has been the closest ever, we were only 8 points from being champions ourselves, not a million miles away.. but this season i can honestly say i can not remember any memorable games

Or perhaps they are merely tightening their belts. Given the economic climate and the rapidly rising unemployment figures minus 300 seems like a hell of an achievement.
But you hold on to your belief that the economy does not affect attendance figures.

…and this downward turn in supporter attendance is all due to the standard of the on-pitch Rugby and nothing to do with the economic climate and the 2.49 million unemployed.

It may have a fair amount to do with Huddersfield and Wakefield traditionally having a smaller supporter base than Leeds, Wigan , Saints or Catalans.
As for overall season attendances, the recession has already been mentioned.

| Haha, pure comedy! We have been watching the most entertaining and physical campaign ever!
Rugby League is progressing at lightning pace, with the brutality of the game, and the skill of the players increasing year on year, why would we want to go back on what we are building!
Rugby League is growing, once we start competing at international level, it will grow bigger and bigger

first off it's 300 pal!
second the fact that you think the tightest of calls(it could have gone either way it was that close) was a dodgey call says everthing about your agenda! Funny how the saints fans who know their stuff have kept quiet re the 50/50 call.
third! gf's are most of the time tight affairs in sl and the nrl! I know many fans who have always prefered a 10-8 to a 32-26 long before our ruck slowed down! IMHO a 10-8 is almost always a better game than a 32-26!

The biggest problem with Super League compared to 3 or 4 years ago, is that it has lost alot of it's traditionally big, exciting games. It used to be that any match involving two of Leeds, Bradford, Wigan and Saints was a must watch. Because of the downward spiral of Bradford and to a lesser extent Wigan (who are recovering somewhat in the last couple of years) this is no longer the case. Only Saints v Leeds has a real edge to it now.
Once you get past needing Sky Sports hype to convince you that a game has been, or is likely to be a 'classic' then there are still plenty of entertaining games to be had, but they don't have the backdrop of a firecracker atmosphere adding to the experience that they once had when the above mentioned teams made up the top 4 every year.
