Anybody seen Carl Hall (Donny Chairman) statement? He is spot on. If the SL clubs didn't like it, why wait so long to say so?

That's true. It only took me a few seconds to decide.

Yeah he was spot on everyone has known for months the new structure was going to be rubber stamped, they could have "rebelled" a couple of months ago instead of dragging it out even longer

I have briefly read the review a couple of points i noted that the Competitions will be called the same Super League & Championship 1 & 2 The third 8 will be playing for the championship shield, for promotion to super league the top 3 in the middle will play in sl and the 4th and 5th team will playoff for final super league place. Financial Distribution of sponsors and TV Money will be distributed 70% SL 20% Championship 10% Community and Minimum standards for Grounds will be known after 1/2/14 however current standards Capacity 10,000 Under Cover 5,000 Seats 5,000 and Corporate Lounge 500 will be reduced.

My Thoughts I was always a fan of this proposal we have had a superb season and it would be interesting to see how we fair against lower super league opposition with this proposal we would have had this opportunity I know we would probably finish 7th or 8th in the group but it would be interesting and would have attracted better away support. I was worried about the third eight group and what they had to play for but apparently two will be relegated and there will be a Shield to play for for teams finish 1st and 2nd

With regard to Owlerton will it reach the minimum standards that come into place next year ? probably not because we have no seats !!! I know you can sit in the restuarant and inside at the various bars but i am not sure if they count as they are inside !!!

So why are the SL teams complaining ? Probably not about funding 70/20/10 split seems fair although i cant see Championship sides going full time with just a 20% split I presume the lower sl clubs dont like the idea of ending up in the championship and the top teams dont like the salary cap

So what should the RFL do ? Award more prize money to higher teams and increase the salary cup seems the sensible compromise

We will hopefully have a 1200 seat temporary stand to put on the far (condemned) side, rumors were that as long as you could fit a tv gantry in you'd be fine in regards to the new standards that would be set how accurate that is iv'e no idea.
You never know after Ian Swire's tweet last week about a very positive meeting about the don valley redevelopment and him being more confident about us kicking off 2016 in a new stadium we maybe ok

Your probably right i have done analysis of the last 3 years of challenge cup matches Championship v Super League and Super League are winning 25 - 1 and in matches featuring top Championship v bottom Super League they lead 6-1 so i suppose our best chance of getting promoted to the Super League is via 1 up 1 down rather than the middle 8 format

I still haven't got a sensible answer to what we're playing for in each of these leagues. Presumably no-one knows.

Easy peasy

In a nutshell

Top 8

To win the super league

middle 8

To win promotion to super league 1 or start next season in super league 2

bottom 8

The glory of of winning the third division title and probably a good day out in a GF. The bottom end of this 8 will fight it out to avoid relegation

The Bottom 8 will be playing for the Championship Shield not the third division title

same thing but different name, all i mean is it will be a third tier title

It could be argued that it will give some teams in the bottom 8 something to play for as the top 4 from the regular season have been taken out ie the sides finishing 6 7 or 8 in the regular season under the current format generally would have nothing to play for or under a top 8 playoff system be knocked out at the first round of games

it is simple enough but it's not a very popular idea among fans

But for whatever reason a majority of clubs seem to like it
It has pros and cons for me it'll be interesting

I dont think there will be any grand final or silverware proposed for the winners of the middle 8 just entry in SuperLeague 1 the following season so at the moment we are National Champions 2013 (Griff you need to update your profile !!!) is very marketable but Division 3 Champions or Champions Shield as they will probably call it is not really because in effect the best of a bad bunch

There doesn't seem to be much of an end product at our level.

We play 23 games to qualify for another league where the top four win the same prize. Not to mention that the odds are perpetually stacked against us.

I don't think it's been well thought out.

And I still don't think you can win $uperleague 2.
