don't know your area mate,it's not my neck of the woods - there has to be smewhere which would work out more economical for the Eagles surely ?
TO13 (& Catalans for that matter) seem to have the right idea tho'
TO13 have a stadium that will take about 2500 comfortably which is more than big enough and which gives a good atmosphere with between 500 - 1000 spectators but with a bigger stadium at their disposal (at Blagnac) not too far away if a higher capacity is required ie against Widnes in 2009.Catalans stadium is ideal with a great atmosphere for the current 7000+ average.
I can imagine TO13 playing at Stade Toulousain with it's 20000 capacity nearby but there would be hardly any atmosphere.
I recall having to sit out the Paris games at Charlety (with running track) with only a few thousand spectators at times and that was purgatory.
sorry about the 'h' - btw - i'm not used to dropping my 'h' s

| Quote ="sanjunien"not intended as a dig on the attendance figure, far from it but how difficult is it to generate a decent atmosphere at a 30,000 seater stadium when only 1000 or so turn up ?
Would it not be more practical for all concerned to find a smaller venue as a home stadium ?
Donny at the Keepmoat seems ridiculous !
TO13 ground at present is minute in comparison to the LSV,Bramhall Lane etc but does generate an atmosphere when 1000 or so turn up.'"
Yeah, can't believe no one's thought of that before...
Anyway on to the game, thought we were excellent in the first half, any team in the division would have struggled to keep us at bay. The two lads from Bradford looked very handy, I know it's an obvious choice but I thought Menzie was the man of the match, scored two, gave Finighan a walk in and absolutely DESTROYED two of their guys with huge hits. Second half we cruised and we could have had more, thought the second half was pretty boring to be honest. Toulouse were poor although I thought Ged stood out for them.

| Brendan Worth - yes, he's a big unit. Played well in parts, but gave away some silly penalties.
As for Stadiums - the B2Net in Chesterfield is a 10,000 capacity Brand New Stadium. It's a nice set up & could be considered as a potential alternative when Bramall Lane isn't available and might be worth a go as an expansion experiment if promoted well enough. There are some excellent real ale outlets on Whit Moor (Red Lion, The Beer Parlour & Derby Tup) and only 20-25 mins from the Lane.

| I agree the B2Net would be a good choice, if it was closer to Sheffield. The thing is, it's not Sheffield and how can we attract and keep fans from Sheffield if we do that? Same can be said for when Rotherham get their new stadium. We could go their for maybe NRC games, its closer but again, it's not Sheffield..

| On a temporary measure or just as a one-off i would be more than happy to go to Chesterfield or Rotherham for a change,I would rather got out of Sheffield than go to don Valley again,It really is the pits for watching rugby and would kill the Eagles if we went back there again,I would also put forward the Sheffield FC ground with capacity of 2,500 as a nice -off venue,Would be a cracking atmosphere.

I have to travel from Derbyshire to watch the Eagles every week!
I do agree though, it should be in Sheffield, even though the 500000 inhabitants of the city seem to be largely unaware that the Eagles exist. Having to be in Sheffield takes Sheffield FC's ground out of the equation!

| I agree with ESO, first half excellent, second half we cruised a bit which we shouldnt do. I was disapointed with Toulouse, they looked good with ball in hand but just kept dropping it. I thought the ref was poor for both sides. Some stuff he gave against Toulouse was just plain daft.
One little observation, Tubby will be disapointed with the two first half tries we conceded. Poor defending from penalties.
Menzie stood out of course, Brown continues to shine and full credit to Finigan, looked very good on debut.

Well, no, there isn't.
I'd be dead against taking it out of the city. May as well move to Huddersfield or summat.
Which has been mooted in the past.

The Eagles seem quite happy to get reserve, academy and scholarship players from the Midlands. Time to give a little back, I think!

Poor you..................
I travel from Cumbria every game, so a couple of miles down the road is nothing.
Surely it is better to have the games played by an Eagles team, somewhere close to Sheffield, than not, which would mean that a representative side from Eagles could not play in the Championship.
Now Saints play at Widnes, Crusaders were franchised to play in Bridgend, but play in Wrexham.... but the RFL have this wonderful aspect of [iall rules are made to be broken !![/i

True, but the Eagles have used the Midlands development as part of their justification for being able to run the scholarships and academy.
We could have played the Challenge Cup game in Coventry or Northampton and, with the right marketing, got as many through the gate as we did at DVS.

I dont mind going to Chesterfield/Rotherham/Spinkhill for a one-off, if neither the Lane or DVS are available. But a permenent move is a total no-no for me.

I agree definalty not permanent but i would rather see 2 or 3 games at Chessie,Rotherham as an alternative to Don Valley,Would be an interesting experiment to see,Wonder how the attendances would differ and maybe could entice new supporters as Tim says from the outskirts who then maybe would be prepared to travel to a top class facility at the lane rather than the terrible view and atmosphere of Don Valley.

| I was only suggesting the B2Net as a one-off
If you want to get that picky about county boundaries, about a quarter of Sheffield used to be in Derbyshire anyway!
The Bishop's Palace at Meersbrook used to be the original border & that's only a mile or so from Bramall Lane!

Still is. Geography didn't change in 1974. Just the Councils.
The clue's in the title - Local Government Act.
