Sorry to spoil your excitement halifaxjohn but the Weatherspoons has gone seriously down hill and the food menu is really poor nowadays................ The Travelodge is handy but there are some decent priced pubs with rooms in town and close to many other food and drink outlets. You can't beat The Ambrose for food and drink, Yates cheap good ale and food is no longer and has been closed for good due to structural damage, Jeffersons sells good food and Jennings ale, and of course the Raiders bar for ale with some decent pies on sale inside the ground. For good ale The Duke of Edingburgh can't be beaten with Lancaster Bomber and other hand-pulled...etc etc
