He was RE- signed on a 2 year contract so i win that on a technicality.

Fair enough. Still not great business though - 33 games into his contract and he's made 4 appearances.

None of the above were classed as "poor players" at the time of their signature. Mills was no world beater, but I suspect his initial contract value reflected that. He has since gone on the become a right cart-horse, that I'll give you!
Poor Morgan signings are more widespread than many on here would have you believe, but as a % of total signings, I imagine its still quite low. The following are examples of poor signings (IMO of course!):
Desi Williams
Gareth Price
Garrett Crossman
David Mills
Interesting (as you have alluded to) that 3 of the above are indeed, props.

| All coaches will have a poor signing or 2 to their name. The biggets from the list you have above was Crossman. He came with great raps from the aussie press and his coach. He turned up and was really poor, maybe it was settling abroad and adapting to a different rules and styles of play.
Paul Cooke has not been a poor signing, he just hasn't hit the same levels of influence on our team as he did for FC. If he wasn't an ex FC player who came over acrimonioulsy he would even be getting discussed.
In our initial SL year Cookie was the difference that kept us up and for that his signature was very valuable.

I thought Fozzaard did a very good job for us at the start of last season , and was the seasoned campaigner who led from the front , particularly when Vella was out injured.

Just look at Richards and Phelps at Wigan, I'm sure the fans would be happy to have seen them leave after their first season here in SL.
I'm sure Moa now in his second season will show FC why he is worth a place on the overseas quota.

WTF?! Are you referring to Michael Smith?! If so you're wrong IMO - Rovers legend and a crucial part of the club's return to the top flight.
Re Cooke, personally I will always be glad we signed him - without his performances in 2007 we wouldn't have survived IMO. £3million in debt, but think what it would have been if we'd got relegated.

| I dont get all this if Cooke hadnt signed, Salford where shocking and even without Cooke you would have finished above them, the only decent game he had that year was against Hull at the KC, and even if he hadnt played you woud have still beaten us that day as we where that poor.
I not sure the reason that Cooke hasnt produced the goods very often at Rovers, I would guess that the main reason would be him playing he wrong role a Rovers, at full he played therole of SF, no matter what number or position he was down as. At Rovers he played 2nd fiddle to Webster and Dobson.
I hope JM brings out a book one day, would love to know if he wanted to sign Cooke?

| Quote ="Willa"esders =#FF0000- was worth a shot while we waited to develop more young players.
mills =#FF0000- intially signed when we had just finished 11th, was ever present in 2008 and captained Wales that year. Has disappeared from view since then, admittedly.
Cooke =#FF0000- I assume you are just trolling here. If, however, you are one of those Hull fans who live in a paralell reality where Rovers were relegated following at 42-6 reverse at the KC stadium, in September 2007 (the fourth of four derby defeats that year) and subsequently failed to win a SL licence, I would like to point out that this was not due to Paul Cooke's lack of quality, especially relative to the rest of that brave but somewhat limited squad of 2007. He is not a bad player - in fact he is capable of being a very good one, and sometimes actually is. Whether he has been a poor signing is another argument, but while he hasn't been an unequivocal success I'd argue not. Anyway, don't you all regard him as a Hudgell, rather than a Morgan signing.
Fozzard =#FF0000- Very good pedigree and was very important early in 2009, when Vella was out. Good player, though past his prime, decent signing.
Wilson =#FF0000- David Wilson? Erm... yeah, okay.
Smith =#FF0000- Michael Smith? When Rovers were in NL1?
Bauer =#FF0000- was a shot to nothing and did okay when he played. Has won a couple of grand finals since leaving - didn't 'make it' at SL level, but not miles away considering how unheralded he was. The 'Rough Diamond' compared favorably with 'The Project'.
Gannon -=#FF0000 unfairly maligned by Rovers fans in my opinion. Did a job for us in his final year at this level '"
Just to show I'm not completely one-eyed - and much as I keep hoping - the oft-injured Chev Walker hasn't hit the heights, even when fit(ish).
Crossman was similar to Mills and Menzies never showed the promise he allegedly possessed.

I'll forgive you as you never went to many rovers games that year (or did you) He played a lot of decent games that year and a fair few very good ones. Salford away being the prime one in my mind, that was the game that realistically decided whether we stayed up or went down and I belive Cookie was MoM.
His kicking was one area we were seriously lacking in prior to his arrival, Gareth Morton was a decent kicker but not a SL level player, therefore he was having to be played purely for his kicking abilities. Cookes move also freed up Murrell to go to 13, a position he excelled in (cats away to name but one).
Morgan may not have wanted to sign cooke, and I believe if he'd had his way he'd have sacked him after the KC derby when he was dropped for club discipline reasons. But there is a belief among Hull fans that he only plays well against them and this is far from the truth.

Cooke's best game in the 2007 season was at Salford. I have no doubt whatsoever that had he not been in our side we would have lost that game. If that had happened we would have gone bottom for the 1st time in the season and things may have been very different for both Salford and ourselves from therein. As it was, he had a blinder, we put distance between them & us, and it demoralised them to such an extent they never won another game.
And that's before we get to September 2nd!

Yes he is.
In any case, look at how players like Murrell, Fisher, Lovegrove, Fox + many others have developed/are developing under Morgan.

Bottom line is he's taken many players from the NL such as some of those mentioned, and turned them into SL players, which is all you can ask for after just 3 seasons in SL.
