What goes around comes around. We all go through periods of being in and out of favour with the local media. The facts are that Rovers having to de-register Dobson to accommodate Mason who you've been attempting to get here for 6 months, is a media story. Rovers have already had criticism for the quota and have been caught short here, with only the "fortunate" injury to Dobson and special dispensation allowing Mason to play. It's poor management to be in that situation. You can't be "lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it" when Burnsy makes jokes about signing Reardon, for example, then take your bat and ball home on this. It's maybe impish and stirring it, but you love it when the boot's on the other foot.

How odd. If attentions had been focussed on the fine detail of quota, passport and visa requirement, such as the incorrect judgement or advice on Ben Galea's passport, there would have been nothing for the fans to get upset about. No real need to then get cross with the press for doing their job.

If they have told lies, is he pursuing legal action against them? If the RFL issue a statement to say Dobson's contract has been terminated, what exactly do you expect the HDM to do? Ignore it, or try and get clarification? The nub of the issue is that Rovers error over Galea's passport has ultimately created a story for the local media to report on. Don't shoot the messenger.

I'm not the one complaining though. FC fecked up on the registration. The RFL's rules weren't sufficiently robust at that point to disqualify us. No one would have complained if we had been disqualified. The media covered it, very fully, including Radio Humberside debating the "moral" vs "by the book" sides of the argument ad nauseam. Here, Rovers have made a mistake about Galea's passport, one which has meant your biggest ever signing has been in Australia for 6 months, and meant you have to de register your most important player who has a fortunately timed injury. Like it or not, it's a story, and one entirely of Rovers making. The media would not be doing their job if they failed to report it and the statement of "termination" made by the sport's governing body.

Look, the point being made here is that Hudgell has done an open mic criticism of the media for their reporting of the Dobson registration issue this week, going as far as to use the phrase "wetting themselves" over it. All I'm saying is Rovers themselves created the message, so it's disingenuous to try and deflect the blame for the situation and shoot the messenger. Honestly. To be fair to Rule he was only saying it as he see's it.
Now the fact that White went looking for the comment and asked if FC were going to go hunting for Dobson when he knew full well they had a full Quota was mischief making of the highest order.
TBH White was also out of order when he pretty much said to Rule 'Have you discussed sacking Agar, and if not now when?'
