| Anyway - that puts to bed any 'death of the game' concerns. Ganson knew the rules after all. He just - as many of us have said for some years - needs to visit SpecSavers.

RFL STATEMENT: VIDEO REFEREE DECISION AT MAGIC WEEEKEND
Rugby League Saturday 25 May 2013 8:47pm
The RFL have admitted that video referee Steve Ganson made an incorrect decision in awarding a try to Chris Green of Hull FC in the closing stages Super League fixture against Hull Kingston Rovers at the Etihad Stadium today.
RFL Head of Match Officials Jon Sharp said: “We have reviewed the decision and it is clear that Steve made the wrong call.
“Honesty and accountability are important to the Match Officials Department and we can only apologise for the error.
“Steve has been in contact with Hull Kingston Rovers and offered his apologies: he is one of the sport’s most experienced officials and deeply regrets having got it wrong.
“As with all fixtures, we will conduct a full review of the performance of our match officials following Magic Weekend and will take what steps we can to ensure that mistakes like this do not happen again.”

You've had al that can be done, an apology. Hull won the game, that's sport, its imperfect. Ever had a game were there hasn't been some decision or sonething or other other that is questionable?

| well steve thanks for admitting you got it wrong, that makes me feel a hell of a lot better, and for the record about last season forward pass steve ganson did not get it wrong he awarded the try after consulting the touch judges he had no choice to award the try. today was very shambolic and unjust, and the yeaman try was a dubious one to say the least. but i am very proud of the team hull kr. and wish all our injured players a speedy recovery

| One of the flagship events in rugby league and marred by an appalling decision for all to see,no wonder our sport is judged as a joke beyond the m62 corridor.I feel a lot fooking better for the rfl saying sorry. If it was normal speed I could accept, but one look at the video replay and it was clearly offside, how could he not see he was offside, what was he looking at?

He was looking at the wrong player, apparently. My guess would be Lynch who was stood next to him but level with the kicker.

| Ganson proved today what we all knew. That he is incompetent. He did it to us last year and he's done it to you today. Unfortunately his back will be covered by those in authority and he'll carry on making the same errors.
For what its worth, I thought you'd done enough to win today, but disregarding the TRY!!! at the end, we would have have been sharing the points.

| Ganson is a tool of the highest order, but to say our sport is a laughing stock is a bit silly. I'm truly gutted with the result but that game was highly exciting and a credit to rugby league. Other than the last few games of the season football can only dream of the entertainment we experience. Rugby Union is barely worth a mention for comparison when looking at the entertainment today.
Hessle Rover, your insults to FC fans are worthy only of the HDM site. If I were them I would be taking full advantage at rubbing this right in. To their credit they have not been that bad...so far. I understand how they see this as parity for last year but agree this decision is far worse as it was with the VR who had several looks at it.
Our guys bust a gut today and to even come close with the team we are fielding is a credit to them and the coach.
Eden has been next to useless all season and would not have played if Welham was fit. To be fair up until that kick he had played very well.
It's funny how the last time Hull were that poor was also against us. Seems they reserve there worst performances for KR. Or could it be that KR did actually play very well against a stronger side/squad and forced errors?
Nothing more we can do so lets all have our moan and shout for our battered team again next week.
Our tactics today were spot on...who should get the credit for that I wonder??

| 2 poor errors on Gansons part. Yeamons try never was on 2 angles and the other angle was very indecisive to say the least. Then the offside try. Words fail me. After admiting hes made a mistake he should resign and do us all a favour.

| Not sure if it has been said but why didn`t Thaler go back to the VR even when the try was allowed and ask him to review it again? Simples.
Thought 2 of Hull`s tries should not have been given.
Not only were you robbed of a point but you would have had a penalty on the half way line and 6 tackles to score.

Another complete dummy response from a Hull Fc fan, the difference between last year and this is that as most of us (obviously not including Hull Fc fans) know that you cant use technology to rule out a try from a forward pass, however, you most certainly can use it to judge the validity of a try from such things as offsides, grounding of the ball etc.
Unfortunately and despite the technology available Ganson completely gaffed today and made it the talking point of the game rather than the game itself.
When are the overpaid numpties at Rl headquarters going to get a grip with the very poor standard of refereeing in this country, until they do the game will never be taken seriously by the media etc.

Give over. No try on 2 angles and the 3rd was indecisive. That was Gansons leveller for last season I honestly don't know what the offside one was for

After the game last year there was a "Steve Ganson Appeciation Society" thread on this board. During last years game Rovers scored when the game should have been stopped as a Hull player suffered a career ending injury, the penalty count was 6-0 to HKR in the second half and then we had THAT pass. Three factors that Mr Gansons ineptitude influenced. Well guess what boys, all the p*ss taking has come back to haunt you and the fact that it is Steve Ganson who you all are now vilifying makes it that much sweeter. I for one will milk this for all that is worth and no doubt when HKR next win a derby, the compliment will be returned.
What goes around....
