3 posts without swearing, not bad. Has Matty ever posted? They may as well give me his badge. GJB used to be quite good as I recall.

Unlikely.
Shannon McDonnell sounds fun btw - my personal favourite appraisal of him on the NRL forum was this one "Shannon has more in common with Ben Cross, who went over there with no skills other than ones they already have plenty of, and sank without a trace - although Shannon is young and probably has several years of mediocraty ahead of him." Most seem to think he's average but will go well over here.

GJB was a great poster, back in my lurking days. As soon as he became a mod he stopped posting.
He comes around occasionally, I keep trying to provoke him to post but he's too busy reclaiming telly's off poor folk and taking them back to Brighthouse to be bothered with the likes of me.

Thread drift is allowed, a little, according to a mod who by your own admission is higher up the table than you. That and you've got previous for giving up on me as a lost cause.

| When Shannon arrives in Hull Hudge needs to make a small detour as he crosses Myton Bridge and swing onto Vicky Dock Village, he can then point out to him as he goes around the roundabout the famous wee tower from east park in its new and more spacious surroundings. It is however a tad to open for all its previous uses but stands as a shining beacon for all us east hullers to be reminded of our teenage years larking around on east park rockies.
( still on topic )

I hope Shannon is a good player as I know nothing about him.
My worry is that the highloght reel we have seen doesn't have many 'highlights' on it.

I'm doing a public engagement lecture the week after next. And it'll be brilliant (I'm out of humility), so there. I've put in superheroes and a giraffe and a famine in Scandanavia.
I'll let you know how it goes - in chat thread.
Everyone seen Sandercock's interview on HKRTV? He mentions that the first, and at that point only, player he had spoken to is Joel Clinton. which in light of all the assumptions about him leaving to make way for McDonnell, I thought was interesting. He also says he's looking at bringing across a couple of players - though that might include Paea, I guess.

What's this talk of Jimmy Mac I keep seeing on this forum?
He is definately contracted to Newcastle for next year, although contracts don't seem to mean much at the moment.
Jimmy could have a UK passport. He was born and raised till the age of 14 in Banff, Scotland, but he didn't even know what League was till he came to Aus.
Interesting story with Jimmy. Apparently his step father took the family to Darwin in the Northern Territory where he has some form of airforce job, and Jimmy somehow ended up going to the Northern Territory Academy of Sports and playing League. He is still the only player from there to make the NRL. The Knights picked him up when he played in the affiliated States side along with Cory Paterson from Western Australia.
The best story about Jimmy is that when he made the SOO team he rang his father in Scotland to tell him, but had to tell him what SOO was first.
If you do pick up Jimmy you will have signed a gem. He is one of the most driven players and trainers in the game. He is 100% professional and determined to make the most of his talents. Very safe defender, has a great leap on him, very rarely beaten in the air, and he wants to play other positions. He was a centre in the juniors and wanted to play fullback this year, but didn't get a chance.
I'll be pretty disappointed if we lose him, but in Wayne we trust.

I've heard the name been pushed around roopy as a possible move and Craig has said if he can get this player our fans wud be very excited, Craig is after two players.

| It kind of makes sense that Newcastle would release a high profile back to free up salary cap.
we have
Boyd - current aus
Uate - current aus
Tahu - duel international
Sau - kiwi international
Naiqama - Fiji captain
we also have Kurt Gidley who might be used as a back, a half or a hooker, and young guns Pete Matautia, Likiliki and Kev Naiqama.
I'd have Jimmy ahead of most of those guys, but it makes sense that we should lose a back to sign a forward or a hooker.
Junior Sau would be much better for you guys - it wouldn't matter that he can't pass in the ESL - he'd just plow over most defenders - he does that in the NRL pretty often.

You also have Buderus returning next season, he won't be a huge drain on the cap, but equally, he won't play for peanuts.

Bedsy isn't getting much.
Part of his deal is an ongoing coaching job from 2013.
We have some fantastic young hookers but none are firstgrade ready. He has one year to train up his replacement, and then he coaches the hookers.

If you're close to the Knights board then fair enough but I'm guessing a player with the honours and experience Danny has he isn't going to be on a light wage packet!

I'm not close to the Knights board (partly because we are now privately owned and don't really have one), but it's common knowledge that he is on a a smallish playing contract for one year and then goes on to a coaching contract for a few years.
He already owns a house here, and he already has business interests in the town.
It's all about life after football, and one year at the Knights sets him up for that.

Sure - but he won't be on the 400k he was on last time he was at the club, and he'll be getting less than De Gois was on last year.
Apparently we had to pay Leeds some money - not sure how that fits into the salary cap.

| I thought this may be worth a bump, if only to watch some serious backpeddling (yes, I'm talking to you Mrs B!).
Girls name, averaging 8.7 games per season. Pah, sod him!

| It was funny to look back (cheers sirstan), but I think it can be locked and referenced in the other threads.
That 'general derision' Hull 50s fan mentioned would be nice to see.
