what did Webster do, played only three games more than Richie Mathers even though Mathers needed a Knee reconstruction mid way through the season, for a mid table Gold Coast side didnt he? a grand total of eight games in over a year would worry me a little for a world class centre who has at least 8 centres ahead of him for his country

Donalds improvement was entirely down to switching from right wing to left wing (outside Senior).............would have thought a staunch Leeds supporter might just have noticed where the players play...................and outside of whom...

Didn't he actually score more tries in his season outside Walker than last year? And we all know about Calderwood's try-scoring outside Walker in 2005. No matter what criticisms can be levelled at Walker, personally I think you have to admit that his wingers always score their fair share.

Scored 2 more in his first season than second, playing one more game in his first, He was however defensively woeful as he was consistantly left exposed by Walker,

Walker was moved into the second row when Toopi joined and even moved onto the wing

btw, that was the point i was trying make, a wingers try scoring quality is often exagerated or limited by the quality of his centre,

the only one i would say that didnt often rely on his centres was Big Les and maybe Bai

and why would it matter to a winger which side they play at, especially one whose improvement was defensive rather than offensive? a winger will usually play on the best side of the centre he is partnered with, its not like they can have much of preference

You obviously didnt watch too closely.....watch all the play offs and GF again if you have them (or any regular season matches).....Donald scored some pearlers (all on the left, remember Keiths nice off load to put him in the clear in the final.....) and Lee Smith and others scored from the right wing position ....remember his interception at Saints.....

Ask any winger who has a step how it matters which side they play or prefer....its a massive difference.........as is the quality of ball.....

i think its you who needs to look closer, to see both centres played both sides, so although he was playing on the left, he was often playing outside toopi, how played left centre for NZ and the warriors yet is playing right centre at leeds, primarily, but also left centre often

it isnt a massive difference at all, any quality player will be able to play both sides, it would be a massive failling for a player to be strictly left or right, as this season, gibson, toopi and senior all played both sides for the first team, and hall and smith played both sides for the academy on the wings and both played right wing for the 1st team

lastly Donald scored more tries in his first season than his second, there was never any problem with scoring tries whether he plays outside Walker, Gibson, Senior, Toopi, he did however have a massive problem playing outside Walker in defence, which is why Walker was moved to the second row/wing and toopi was brought in mid season

It pains me to say it but Smokey is right! Leeds do have players who can play anywhere and any side of the pitch and they have done this season.

However, despite Jake's poor season in the NRL, he is still just 24 years old and is keen to spend the next 3 years improving himself in the Centre position. But if it doesn't work out then we have a World Class winger who proved it at Melbourne and for NZ. Not just in tries scored but defensively too!

But guess what, we have Rhys Lovegrove who shone in SL towards the back end of the season in the Centre position ready to stand in should Jake fail to make the grade there. Tell me Rhys wasn't a stand out performer and i'll show you a liar!
