| In fairness to Mrs B, it's a question that's been raised in our house too, surely these turnstiles could have waited a little longer and the priority given to other more pressing ground improvements? The funds raised from the Club Rovers scheme are apparently paying for this so maybe there is a separate pot for ground improvements, I hope so.
I think the recession, pure and simple, is the reason no further work has been done on the East Stand, once things pick up I'm sure that will be first on the job list.

Lets presume Rovers have a serious problem with people gaining entry to the east stand when they shouldn't be, lets then say a major incident occured within the stand, caused by the capacity being higher than it's stated number, and lets then presume the HSE slap a significant fine upon the club, in that scenario, then I'd suggest the new turnstiles aren't such a bad idea.

But for all the times the turnstiles go wrong, and we have to have staff (which lets be honest, we can't be paying that much for) hanging around The East anyway?

Sorry to de-rail, Wellsy, but it does look, from what I've seen, that the computerised turnstiles will be in before ground extensions. Just seems odd.

Fair comment, but that could've been happening for the last three years. If that is a genuine concern then fair enough.

I could be a long way from the truth, but the club will look at every scenario, and if they feel the turnstiles are a priority, then so be it in my opinion.

Apologies. I didn't realise we were having a serious conversation! (You load the chum too thick for us dopey East Hull types at times!). And similar sentiments to Wellsy for further derailing his thread...
Best value for money at the moment, for least capital out lay for returns would be to put another golf stand in front of the ludicrous terrace. The finance for the North is clearly not there or work would have started by now.
I personally don't think we can, as a club, grow attendances on a regular basis by much more than about 2k. But, if, we had a 12/14k stadium we'd certainly attract more walk up as at the moment I believe that most of that element of potential support don't bother because they're unlikely to get a ticket.

| With reagard to the stadium I was thinking about this on Sat and what is to stop us extending the east and then bring in another temp stand for the south?
Its not perfect but it solves some probelms in the very short term.
1 It gets rid of the awful current south stand.
2 It gives us more capacity
3 It gives us more capacity for away fans (As both the north and south would/could be available.

I agree with you, as a temp measure, it would do the job. Lets face it the new north stand is mainly aimed at coporate facilities with a secondary thought to raising capacity.

Meaning that a Temp stand would be added to the total capicity?

| And, doing that as a temporary fix would hopefully bring back an element to The East thats been lacking, which is opposition fans. Great atmosphere that it is in there, I used to really enjoy having a natter with fans of other clubs.

| I've heard murmurs that the north stand plans have been shelved for now in favour of completing the east stand and doing 'something' with the south end.
Whether that's building a new stand/terrace or simply putting another temp stand there, I don't know. But it makes more sense to address the worse areas of the ground rather than the one's that are ok.
Frustrating as it is, I can understand the club keeping their cards close to their chest as so many clubs make promises regarding stadia that never happen.

Just googled "Hull KR licence stadium plans" and there it is. The original report on the official Rovers site seems to have mysteriously disappeared.
Sorry, I'll behave myself now. At least until tomorrow.

| just on the electronic turnstyles thing, I read somewhere a while ago that all clubs had to move to these as a ground safety requirement, and I might be proved wrong on this but I believe it was one of the few lesser points on ground facilities that was included on franchise bids (that didn't grab many headlines).
They don't have to be be fully automated like at headingley but they do have to be electronic and capable of accurately recording crowd figures.

| This question has been raised before and my understanding is that during the last off season work was concentrated on services such as electricity and sewerage in preparation for the coming off season when the East stand will be extended South and the Golf stand will be moved to the South end of the pitch.
This then clears the North area for work to the North stand development, the current situation with, I have no idea, but if the above is correct work would presumeably not start on the new North stand until after the 2010 season has ended.
