| The Colbon situation is a bit of a puzzler for me, pre injury he looked very good and seems to fit Justins game plan very well, Extremely hard working winger. Since back in the team he's been out of position and it shows, get him back on the wing outside webbo / welham and he'll get his early season form back. Would be very disappointed to see him leave.
I'll admit I thought Ratu was a complete non starter when he got here, then he suddenly started to play well once he got a run in the team. His defence improved and he seems to have power going forward. He's got another year on his contract AFAIK so can't se him going.
The only other contracted player I could see a shadow over is Cook, he seems very hit and miss and when he has a bad one it really stands out, Scott Taylor looks a better option in the back row than Cook.
I'd assume the definite outs are Cooke, Mills, I'Anson, Wheeldon, Walker and I think Mariano will go.

I just think that at his age he hasn't developed into a regular first team player. If he was 18 / 19 I'd say he still had time but he's not so just think it may be a time to move on.

Sorry for my ignorance but how old is Mariano? Is he older then people like Scott Spaven and Sam Latus?

| Mariano is 23 (think he's rovers longest serving player)
Spaven and Sam Latus are 20 and Scott Taylor is 19.
I think we have better younger players coming through than Frankie

| Ahh I didn't realise he was that old.
I mentioned Spaven though as if he isnt given more first team chances, which I don't think he will with Fisher and Hodgson, who is younger than him, no doubt keeping their spots next year and Murrell there to offer cover, I can't see him being given a new deal.

I quite like Spaven but I agree that I'm not sure how many chances he will get, there is a rumour that if Fisher is moved on and Green comes in he may play 9 with another 6 coming in which would make Spaven staying even more unlikely.

Hasn't he been given an extension to his contract?
To be honest, in the games I have seen him play he hasn't looked to have the same level of potential as Josh Hodgson who looks like he could blossom into a real star for us imo so I can't see him staying and sitting in the stands as a 4th choice hooker.

Fish signed a 3 year extension 2 years ago so has a year left to go but rumours have been around that he will be shipped out for over a year now so who knows really.
I agree tho' I think Spaven may move on to get some game time.

| Fish of back to OZ ain't he when his contract runs out think thats why Morgan didn't give him the no9 this season but think Murrell change of position backfired a bit, think Fisher is playing some good rugby at mo and can change a game when he comes on the field, and Cook as had a bit of a up and down season again given the chance think he could do well. Good to see Vella back this week...

Turns on "pmh-late".
Ahem.
Young Master Fisher is more than likely to return to Australasia at the end of his stipulated lenght of employment with Hull Kingston Rovers. This is likely to be the reason for Mr. Morgan honouring Young Master Murrell with the traditional shirt number for the hooker within the game of Rugby Football League, the number nine. However, in my esteemed opinion this tactical switch cannot be acclaimed as a success.
I feel that having over come these tribulations, Young Master Fisher is rewarding the fans of the Hull Kingston Rovers club with some tip top displays, his influence when he enters the arena of battle is often unequivocal in it's positivity.
Moving along, may I opine on Young Master Cook? I feel that he has been perhaps a little up and down this term but one should not use this to his detriment. I belive that Young Master Cook has the potential, if shown faith, to turn in some sterling performances for this our marvelous club.
As an aside, I am heartened to see the return of our Towering Captain, Mr. Vella.
"pmh-late" off.
TIA

Before anyone starts; I'm well aware the above user is a few dolly mixtures shy of a quarter, but I have to admit finding ways to load the squad with aussies doesn't inspire me with a whole lot of confidence.
I can only hope we're continuing down this route as a short-term fix until better home-grown players become available both off contract and from our own academy system. I'd hate to see us come unstuck if the RFL decided to close a few of these loopholes.

The thing is, if Rovers load their squad with as many Aussies as they can, within the rules, in place of Brits [itrained at other clubs[/i, this reflects our opinion of the systems of the British clubs that produced those Brits, not the strength of Rovers set-up. Either way it represents 'buying in' talent, rather than producing it. The only real virtue is in producing your own - with maybe a bit of credit for giving a player from the championship a shot. Signing players, [iincluding Brits[/i, from other clubs to fill in the gaps in the stuttering production line is just churn and adds nothing to the system - unless perhaps they will play a more prominent role in your squad.
Unfortunately, it is a subtle and maybe even counter-intuitive point, so for [upurely political[/u reasons, it might well be wise to not max ourselves out - then again I don't see much self-denial going on elsewhere.
