| I don't think its just the money in Cas Tigers case though. When you live and work in Castleford (like Joe Westerman and Joe Arundel before their move to Hull FC) you are in a fish-bowl environment. Its a small town at the end of the day and it benefits some players to move out of that confine.

| As it stands i think Mcdonell is a better player than Eden, the only area that Eden is better is his running in open play, he is one of the best in SL at that.
However Eden has much more potential IMO, could turn out to be an international FB, if he improves in a couple of areas.
He is also British, younger and I would guess cheaper than Mcdonell (although you have paid a fee for him).
I would just about prefer Eden to Mcdonnell for those reasons, but am quite happy with Mcdonnell as it stands.

Just read that, really don't understand this, so can Hudds just take him back?
Would they have to pay the fee back, what if Eden didn't want to leave Rovers, seems a very unclear and strange clause?

“The proposal from Hull KR clearly is in Greg’s best interests and we have included a clause giving us the option for Greg to return to the Giants at the end of the 2014 season. He thus moves on with our very best wishes. We will naturally follow his progress with great interest and are confident that this is the right arrangement for ourselves, Hull KR and most importantly Greg himself.”
A lot of clubs include an option to have the first refusal if a player decides to move on

Then surely he is out of contract at that time with Shudds and can do as he pleases, also bearing in mind Shudds reported he had signed for us for 4 years while we have said three years it all smacks of appeasing the fans for letting him go in the first place.

For a start they have the length of the contact at HKR wrong.
Me thinks someone is trying to appease an annoyed set of Hudds fans.

I love to see good British talents given a go to show their talents, if Ben Barba was English he'd have spent last season in reserves whilst a average Ozzie played, but in what world does Eden have more potential than Hardaker?
In fact don't bother, lifes too short.

He's got a lot of learning to do in some key areas of the game but he's certainly got talent.

Pleased with this. Gives us plenty of options in the backs and the squad a more filled-out feel. An inexperienced squad overall and I think we'll have to make occasional allowances for that next year, but the restructuring has gone pretty well all things considered - a tilt at the play-offs doesn't seem unrealistic in 2013 and if we can grow this group as a team, hopefully it is the start of another positive period.
The Hudds re-call thing is a bit odd, and impossible to get a real handle on with all the conflicting reports.
Most plausible to me is that we've paid a (presumably pretty small) fee to take over the next two years of his deal (which ran to the end of 2015, according to this: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/18248397 ), and while they have an option on the final year, we guarantee it. Which would frankly be the poopy end of the stick, but given the shortage of fb options 2015 can look after itself for now, as far as I'm concerned.
Another possibility was that Hudds were pretty keen to get shot and the option on the final year effectively lies with us. But then you'd think 'no fee' would make more sense, though given it's undisclosed that could be cosmetic.
Or somebody has just had synapses misfiring.
If he kicks on over the next couple of years we're potentially making a rod for our own backs, so best to have it out in the open IMO. As I say though, a worry for another day.

| Slightly O/T I notice the 4 wings chasing 2 starting spots according to the HDM are Hall, Disco, Brown and Caro - no mention of Latus, who is also not among the players given a namecheck by CS in the Eden PR on the club website. Released or maybe just a change of position?

| Quote ="PONNER"If Eden can reduce his number of mistakes in a game he has the potential to be a very close 2nd to Tomkins in England full backs. Rumour has it his attitude needs bringing down a peg or two which gets other players backs up but if there's someone at the club to keep him in line he'll do fine. Walker played in the early part of the season and did ok but he really needs to work on his leg speed if he's going to be a SL regular. Hope both guys do well for you except against us.
'"
Close second to Tomkins are you off your rocker as much potential Eden has , he is behind Tomkins , Hardaker and ratchford and with them all being roughly around the same age is some way off an England shirt
Very good signing for KR though still a very good player

| Looking at our probable backline next year.
Eden
Hall
Gleeson.
Welham.
Hodgson
Burns.
Dobson.
I can say that it will be.......................interesting to watch.
Plenty of points in that line up both for and against unless there is a great deal of change defensively.
