That (eventually) applied to all non-fed trained players. Initially just for the rest of their current contract iirc, but eventually their whole career including those who went back down under and then returned. The late notice on that amendent was what Hood is complaining about in that article.

Choosing my words carefully...

The non-fed rule is potentially legally contentious. The RFL, I suspect, did not and do not want it challenged in court. Anybody with a legal right to live and work in the UK etcetera, etcetera.

Finnigan, the Henderson brothers and Clark don't just have UK passports, but were born here, [iperhaps[/i making the RFL more receptive to their cases. The RFL tends to give itself discretionary power to ignore its own rules.

More recent cases would be less notable, so I guess they may just not have been reported. Clubs not stretching the rules might reflect that quality realistically available from the NRL has dipped.

Brexit could well render the whole thing redundant.

So in reality nobody really knows

Creating rules that nobody understands is where the RFL excell.

I have a little bit of a fetish for complexity so quite enjoy it. I also like precision and consistency though, so the RFL's other great love - discretionary ad hoc changes - winds me right up.

The reason I bring this point up is that you make out that you are a super fan, and earlier this season you was quoting on a game, that you never attended due to babysitting a newborn, and you couldn't make a game because you had a baby. How many of your non fed players are contracted beyond 2017? It's OK bringing more in but there doesn't seem to be a lot of quality in your overseas players if you do win promotion and don't have much manouvre room to bring better quality overseas players in for next year

We have to get up before we start worrying about staying up. Running a bigger squad with fewer stars, is probably the way we'd go though. From necessity and because injuries is now maybe the single biggest challenge a coach faces.

A few points.

First it wasn't babysitting it was I didn't think it was fair to leave the wife for an away FRIENDLEY with a new born.

Just because he was born in the UK, doesn't mean he is exempt he needs to appeal to the TFL, and as I've pointed out they doesn't seem to be any examples of this happening for 8/10 years.

Be interesting to see what happens, not sure why Rovers need 9 overseas players though, but that's the desperate situation you find yourselves in.

Bradford fans raved about Moss as a fullback, maybe when Carney has served his ban, we'll look at that option. Sheens doesn't seem keen to do so though.

if the bottom 4 teams in SL stay the same as current that's a tough set of fixture's Catalan away Wire are a decent team still and Leigh and Widnes can beat anyone Widnes hard to beat on there own pitch if you give any of these teams the sort of start you have been giving these championship teams it will be very hard going if you have to go to France twice hard on the fans also the middle 8s are looking a very tough set of fixture's for all the clubs on current fom how do you fancy your chances will you be healthy and have your full squad available this could be the key for all the teams

I appreciate your unfamiliarity with the format, but you may be surprised that not all our games against SL sides will be away from home.

there should be with a bit of luck 7 to 8 players to come back with maybe another addition or 2 ,Castleford hull and leeds apart ,super league this year is very average and shouldn't hold any fears for the championship clubs 4 home games helps and although not firing at the moment expect to at least be in the mpg

One of the problems is that some players haven't had any game time coming into the 8's. It seems like Sheens is over protecting the players, I've serious reservations that we'll be totally undercooked when the business part of the season starts.

Don't know about us been apart from any of the others except Cas who have been superb your right when you say every team have been a bit poor in parts every team seems to have the ability to beat any team in the comp I don't go into any game at the moment confident in victory is that a good thing for you or a bad thing ? I guess its all about confidence and momentum and having your best players fit but possible trips to Catalan and Widnes are tough if you get some momentum and a couple of good draws for the first rounds get some points on the board early I can see you doing a Leigh like lastt year and coming up but if your unlucky enough to get a couple of hard fixture's straight away and have nothing to show for the first 2 games it could be a tough ask a fresh and fit squad been all important

Bit of a rough patch at the mo. We have a lot of our 1st choice 17 out, Shaw and Charlie are having howlers and Sheens is experimenting with positions.

I would hope/expect it all calms down in the next couple of games so that July we get a more stable squad with our 1st choice 17ish. Once Carney can play and JBF gets a bit more fitness, neither Shaw nor Moss will get a look in. Moss may get a chance at FB, but if Quinlan returns he'll miss his chance. Then get Heffernan and Minns back in at centre and the whole team is transformed.

I'd rather have this rough patch now than in 6 weeks time. And don't forget, our alleged top class SL side lost to Oldham. This currently patched together team didn't. Plus the weather again. Pray for sun the rest of the season, especially the mid 8s.
