They've been briefed in the past about how it's their responsibility to check substances. It concerns me that so many of our squad of allegedly not followed this.
I feel sorry for him in the fact that he believed someone that should have known better (in fact, two people if you include Long), but it is ultimately his own responsibility.


You've taken it completely out of context. He's not taken a pill for this drug. He's taken a pill and not realised what's in it on the advice of his friend and "passed" by his conditioner. It's like saying your on a slippery slope because you had a cup of coffee in the morning because you were tired.
Also, I don't understand your logic behind your last point. If you don't have much energy, you're not going to be able to do the exercise necessary to burn off fat.


You're right, but there are different levels of performance enhancing, different times you're allowed to take them and different amounts you're allowed to take.

The more I read that, the more I think it was simple brinkmanship on Rule's part and it seemed to have paid off.

Good point that, it also goes someway to explaining Rules comment about "half the squad could be taking it", its quite possible they were totally legally. The overreaction and stirring by some sections of the media, and some fans has been asounding.

Thats not to say its not vastly embarasing for Hull and the game, (the "cover up" moreso than the incompentence/stupidity of Rule/Cooper/Gleeson), but from reading some reaction you'd think half the squad were serial steroid abusers.

The way it has come out in dribs and drabs has meant there has been plenty of opportunity to grab the end of the stick - I've done it myself a couple of times.
I've not seen too much on other boards considering. The Hull and Rovers ones are always a bit febrile when there is mud to be slung in either direction (so pretty regularly

), so I'd replace 'astounding' with 'predictable' there.

Is this true? I've been trying to look into this but can't find much in detail about when you can take it and what happens if you do take it at the wrong time. Just that it got added to a list of things banned "in competition". What's the definition of "in competition"? I assumed it was during the league season, but clearly not by what you're saying.

FC players take supplement, permissible at any time other than 12 hours before a game, having checked its legality with lazy/incompetent conditioner (just like Leeds Rhinos did, in fact).
No evidence of any players other than Gleeson being affected by supplement on matchday.
Player & conditioner get long bans.
CEO also gets just desserts.
RFL approach validated publicly (twice) by the UK anti-doping agency.
Hudgell calls for an inquiry. If [uonly[/u Rovers had finished higher, they came [uso[/u close to progressing in the play-offs.

It's clearly a principled stance to screw them for future concessions. Mason should have been allowed to play in the KC derby alongside Dobson. He had a note from the Tongan Prime Minister and probably his mum, too. But oh no, the RFL was all like 'we can't do that, we're all into integrity.'
With Gleeson, it's 'ooh, let's wait and see' and 'wouldn't it be embarrassing if poor Hull FC had to stand down half their team'. We had Mason's mug plastered everywhere, people had paid good money to watch him eat a sandwich - but that didn't quite register high enough on the red-face richter scale, apparently.

I was wondering that myself, theoretically it does aid performance as it uses a stimulant to make you have more energy. I suppose if you extrapolate that enough you'd actually ban bananas and sandwiches as well.

To be fair I think the reaction on here has been pretty mild, there hasn;t really been the lynch mob mentality out to ban FC that I would have expected. More are in agreement that the RFL are more culpable then the club. I'm actually surprised by a fair bit of the reaction on B&W about wanting Hetherington and Agar keel hauled.

I'm more exasperated by the size and vigour used by the Daily Mail, a paper that doesn't know we exist until something bad happens, going on their past performances I can see a link between FC and the death of Diana beng dragged up soon.
