Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a new ruling on grounding the ball this year, in that you have to do ground the ball intentionally for it to be considered a drop out? It used to just be that all a player had to do was touch it which often caused problems when a player was trying to pick the ball up or if they slipped over while running in goal the ref would call a drop out .
from the highlights it looked Caro was trying to pick the ball up to return the kick and not actually trying to intentionally ground it. Seemed the correct call to me.

Agree, once he had deadened it it should have been a drop out. Poor decision from Childs (yet again with us), but we were cack and did not look like winning in the 2nd half.

We were rubbish the fact that we keep blaming the ref is embarrassing Childs didn't gift them four tries we did so everybody stop the poor us routine it doesn't do us any favours

Don't think anyone's blaming the ref for Sundays dross, but Caro maybe doesn't deserve quite as much stick as we all thought seeing as he did actually rectify at least one of his errors.

I was just pointing out that it appeared to be an incorrect decision, that is all. Yes, I agree Caro should not have knocked on, but he did and he made it dead, which should have resulted in a drop out not a try. If you think that the try was justified because we were rubbish I cannot agree. Mr Childs track record with us is poor when it comes to poor decisions, that is not 'blaming the ref' for our defeat to Salford, just merely pointing out the facts based on the actual rules of the game.

What's really embarrassing is the standard of SL refereeing in this country and in particular the terrible lack of consistency shown in their decision making.
They are full time and as far as i'm aware, fairly well paid for what they do.
I know that they cant get every decision correct and i'm sure most reasonable people wouldn't expect them to do so.
However, they should be achieving far better standards than what they currently are doing imo, especially the VCRs, there's no excuse for not getting decisions correct on every occasion with the technology they have at their disposal imo.
If they cant then you have to ask... just how incapable are they?.

His position in the team has certainly been under scrutiny if not by the coaching team then certainly by the fans. Grumbles on the terraces every time he gets the ball and doesnt make a decent kick or make a break can hardly have done the guy any favours in the confidence stakes. Personally i would prefer to see him play on the right hand side and Travis on the left. Im not a fan of this one side and another for half backs, sure on the defensive side but not in attack. A good half back is there to control the game and im afraid he drifts in and out the game far too much to having a lasting impact on it. I hope Robinson is given a go, ideal opportunity to blood a youngster or potential banana skin for the wannabe coach. suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Have to agree with him being dropped, very poor kicking game and not injected himself into games enough! Frustrating as he has shown glimpses of class at times - but looked very ordinary to say the least , for the majority of games he has played.
