| I'd be disappointed if we announced a 'big name' signing for next year now. I agree with Hudgells point, it is selling the supporters short and also the players who are negotiating new contracts etc. We are still only half way through this season and a lot can happen between now and October.
As a management team they should be looking at how they get some form out of the team we have currently, aim for as high a league spot as possible and a run in the play offs. The only signings we should be announcing are current player extensions and any one new coming into the squad now.

I'd snap ratchford up in a heart beat.
Unless he signs an extension with Salford and then I shall default to "The Goroka Genius Position".

I actually think you were less dull when you were banging on about finances. Who gives a rats ass what Hudgell said in the past? It's not Parliament this you know, although, unfortunately you do seem to have appointed yourself as RLFans very own Hansard.

| The Fail seem to think Webster's time is up due to potential overseas recruitment at half back:

| Another non story from the HDM. we would need to lose another overseas player as well as webster if we are to get a new overseas signing.

| How would people feel about Gary Wheeler on a year-long loan from Saints, as a fed-trained option? A chance for him to develop in his preferred position, maybe.
Not a rumour, just an idea.

But this is a big risk - what happens if he was a flop? were do we go in 2011 with yet again 1 halfback?
Do we go for someone proven to settle the ship, or do we go for an unknown and hope they turn out like eastmond?

Any new signing is a risk. There don't look to be many experienced fed-trained options around. An antipodean, is a risk in another way as they can take time to settle in the UK. Also it'd mean losing Galea [uand[/u Webster, two of our better players.
As I say, just an idea.

| Personally, I'd rather see us go for a 'good' youngster who has the potential to be 'great'. Maybe Ratchford fits that bill, maybe he doesn't. I'm not sure sacrificing two of our best players, to fill an (albeit important) position is the best way forward. I'd much rather see us keep Webster and Galea and sign someone like Ratchford, than sacrifice one of them for someone like Finch.

| Do you not think Galea wants to go then? thought he had been offered a 1yr extension but as yet hasnt signed it.
Kingmaker - do you really think Webster is in our "best players" bracket? If so i strongly disagree - when hes on form he can be great; but that is once in a blue moon and is more likely to limp off injured then do anything good.

Depends how many years you'll offer him i suppose, (Bit like the Longy situation was.) he wouldnt have to move house's and nothing much would change for Galea though..
But 110% id rather get rid of Webster even if Galea goes, then gives us room for quota, and money for a young British player.

I know what you mean. He made a big impact when he arrived in 2008, but has since struggled to live up those standards.
We'd miss him if he left though, I'm pretty sure. Look at the fed-trained alternatives on the ooc list, who'd be realistic targets - only Shenton (who everybody and his dog will be chasing) and maybe Clubb, would fully fill the gap. Craig Hall, while I'd be happy enough with him if it allowed us to strengthen elsewhere, is pretty much guaranteed to have lapses that would make us look back on Webster more fondly.

Agreed we will miss him if we take on the likes of Craig Hall to replace him, But for me; hes on too much for what hes produced since 08 and a free quota spot is the deciding factor for me.

| Matt King to replace Webster please. No money involved and his wages can be a packet of opal fruits.
Then we might not always get a chip through the middle on 5th and last.

| I have the answer.
I'm having a face swop with Benny Galea like John Travolta and Nicholas Cage in "Face Off", then he's going to call himself "pmh" and I'll call myself Terrence Lovebucket.
This way we get to keep Galea/pmh and recruit Finch for the troublesome off half role.
Do 'owt for't cause me. Good like that aren't I. Yes I am.

He had his initial conversations with FC. By my reckoning that put us in the running, at least until other clubs came in and outbid us.
