There's no free land for another junction at all, the only option is to connect to Somerden road or Marfleet lane.

Oh I agree, it's seems on the face of it a crackers idea to me. There's long been talk of a connecting road but I can't ever think of there being a good reason.
However, there's a seventy acre site which requires a bit of a road putting in. I've no idea what other land is available in the area and what potential demand there might be. These sort of developments seesm to utilise all sorts of revenue streams to get off the ground and I would imagine that all these stakeholders bring their own criteria to the party, so perhaps it would be viewed as a best fit.#
I'd no doubt be a lot less ambivalent about it if I lived in the area and it was my local authority spending the brass, but then I've sub contracted worrying about things that have nothing to do with me to Mrs. Barista.

Funnily enough, an option I was told about was using Summerden Road and then an 'access to the stadium' road alongside the old railway track.
There are options but at the moment it is all pure speculation.

I appreciate you won't be able to answer that, but my point is that any extra expense has to be weighted against the demand for the hotel given the obstacles that will get in the way (planning etc.) and the fact there's a perfectly good hotel already a mile or so down the road.
This kind of deal would require partnership with somebody, why wouldn't they just buld the hotel somewhere more practical?

Would a new road even be needed, especially? Up Marfleet lane and then down Preston Road is hardly an arduous journey. Tbh - looking at that piccie and google maps it doesn't look an insurmountable problem to put a road in, but I know the square root of squat about that sort of thing. Money would seem a more obvious issue.
I did think the idea of a hotel seemed very odd, initially. But if somebody thinks that the Alexandra dock development means it could work, then why would we look a gift horse in the mouth? If nobody does, perhaps the club will look at other contingencies. If and when any plans come out, I'm sure it'll all make sense.

Why would anybody go through this process when a hotel could be built in a better location? Or at the Siemens plant itself.

Why would we care? Either somebody wants to do it (and if so it's great) or they don't (and if so it's moot).

Extra traffic around that area would be a problem, especially coming from Hedon Road. The problem is economic, you're right, it's the 'extra work' that's the problem for me. Why would any firm go to the trouble when they could build in an 'easier' location, or in the case of Siemens, on the site itself?

Connecting roads isn't making a DIRECT road to Hedon road.
Seriously, don't get into the conversation if your only points are to try and nitpick at me. You make yourself look foolish as you're the only one doing it, that's twice now.

Even MR has raised his puzzlement at the idea at first glance, which is all i'm doing. I've spoke to plenty of Rovers supporters (half my family as stated earlier) who think the ideas stupid, just because they don't post on here (to my knowledge) doesn't mean they don't exist.

| RGF support has been requested to improve road access to the site, unlocking the private sector investment required to develop the stadium, hotel and multi sport facility, as well as generating additional private sector investment over the medium to long-term to develop the 70-acre site adjacent to the stadium.
Isn't the idea of the road to unlock the potential of the area and not just a road leading to Craven park and a hotel?

Yep - I'm glad they're looking at options and trying to find commercial partners, though. Might not guarantee success, but it is a pre-requisite.
I think Mr F90 makes a pertinent point.

Serioiusly? We're going round in circles and arguing for arguments sake here.
Given what's to be built there (hotel aside), more convenient locations on Hedon road for potential hotelliers (or the Siemens site itself in that instance) and the proximity of a perfectly good hotel with function rooms and business facilities within 5 minutes. Where is the demand?
