No I disagree Bish, it makes me quite nostalgic for our promotion season of 2006 when we used the believe theme, suppose they had to catch on eventually.
Anyhow the stand. Not all the steel work visible at the front is for seating, and when completed the seating section will line up at both sides with the current playing area, this comes from people who are involved in the design and project management of the stand, so can we move on from this and find some new none event to mither about please, this ones getting boring.

| Surely the main thing is the North Stand is being built and will cover the full length of that end. Who cares if it is a few feet or inches out (or not), it won't affect the view.
As for Font's panic-attack over his view from the West Stand, it is an old problem (a product of poor design), which is why the pitch was moved toward the East Stand in readiness for SL.

A product of having a ground based on a design from the 1920's yet built in 1989..!!!!
What foresight Mr Hutton had...talk about failing to move with the times...
Whilst the North Stand is eagerly awaited and i have fingers and toes crossed that it will be the start of a new era for the club, a chance to start again in many aspects and areas, i have a nagging feeling that it is just a big sticking plaster trying to cover the gaping wounds of a poor design and location...we can only wait and see the long term outcome.

With hindsight the oval shape was a mistake, but don't forget at the time greyhounds was a significant income stream, and later on so was the speedway.
Also the present location provided an unexpected income stream, the weekly market, which is a cash cow returning approx £50-£75K per annum.
On the North Stand, its going to be a cold one with that 'breeze' and its seemingly constant minus chill-factor blowing toward it. In many respects, it would have been a better idea to build it at the south end of the ground to eliminate the elements.

Preliminary (spelling?) plans have been mentioned. After more than one false dawn with the North, I guess we'll hear something concrete much closer to seeing concrete. Fingers crossed - it'd 'finish' CP very nicely.

There were plenty of rumours about the south stand whilst the Allams takeover rumour was doing the rounds, both rumours seem to have gone cold now though.

A month or so ago on RH'side SportTalk, NH stated things were happening re the South Stand and he hoped to be in a position to provide an update in 3 months time (Dec/Jan?).

The new ground was built to much like the old one in its overall design without any real planning or alternative designs ever considered, also the builders,(wrights) to my knowledge had no previous experience in stadium development.
With regards to the greyhounds and speedway, the greyhounds came as a package to the New craven park with the rugby club, however, the speedway didn't, that came at a later date and the pitch had to be narrowed significantly to accomodate it.
I aggree that the market was, and still is a welcome stream of income to the club via rent etc, but as far as i can remember the greyhounds became a loss making part of the business, though i may be wrong and someone may be able to clarify one way or another.

I think you need to prove you can fill the north stand wit regularity prior to any work at the south end.

Why?
Do you know something about the South Stand funding that we don't? Unless its the same stream there is unlikely to be any link to North Stand occupancy when it comes to decision time.

I would have thought the south stand will be more about facilities and less about capacity.
The Catalans ground has a swimming pool at one end of the ground without any seating or terracing.
Maybe something like the well at best in the south stand area. Also Extend the east stand

I know nothing about the South Stand funding,
I would have thought though, any SS funding would only be done for a reason, rather than just chucking money for a white elephant.

I think you will find they did. I think you will also find that they planned ahead and laid footings to extend beyond the present capacity if required.

That would seem to be a fairly sensible suggestion.
But - if the majority of away support was in the North then I am guessing the South Facilities would be targetted at Home fans?

Even if it was just mainly for the derby, 1 big crowd lowers the average needed for the other 12 home games closer to realistic for break even. If it can be done without taking on debt or significant extra costs, it is a no-brainer. Also, a proper away end would be (even) better than putting them in something which is also a family stand and boxes bit.
Hopefully it could be combined with doing the other end of the East, then at least that would be symmetrical!

I'd expect something a bit more ambitious, but fulfilling ambitions is always the hard part.
