TBH I never assumed that the Rovers board had been stupid. My take on this is that both Rovers and the RFL have been forced by circumstance into using tactics that both would have preferred not to, and that [imight[/i have wider consequences. The reluctance with which the full story has come out indicates the seriousness with which both parties view it.

My guess would be that the RFL are now busy assessing the fallout from their two available choices (allow the re-registration or not) and determining which comes with the least fallout for them. The most likely outcome will be a yes decision but it may well cost them.

I don't think it will as Ralph Rimmer stated on radio humberside that all super league teams have had some special dispensation at some time and a lot of other clubs don't know about it, as long as were within the cap and quota then there should be no reason for them to decline Dobbo resigning.

Think Ralph Rimmer said it all when he said this situation isn't unique. It's just that it's happened to a higher profile player and that all clubs down the line have had dispensation of this nature. Two very recent yet he refused to elaborate on the details.

I would also have thought that if Rovers were terminating a player's contract negotiated by the player's agent, there is a duty of care, or at least basic courtesy, to inform the agent if there are to be any minor changes, such as a termination, let's say. This piece of basic administration appears to have slipped through the net. Get it on the directors' checklist, I say, it's not as though there are too few directors to share the workload.
