Her statement was a completely factual response to the question she was asked. Had the HDM asked her a supplementary then they may have got the complete picture.

And strictly speaking Rovers have been told that they will be granted permission providing all other regs are satisfied. Can't see where they won't be, mind.

maybe, but its on here I am seeing the most opposition, spoke to several peole today on a site in Leeds (fans of Bulls, Rhinos and a couple of Giants) who didn't seem to see it as a major issue, maybe we have a select bunch on here.

My second point was that we were discussing if the RFL had given Rovers written confirmation.
This last statement from the RFL suggests to me that RFL can't back out.
As you said earlier they have a habit of passing the buck when it goes wrong, Maybe Rovers have not been as stupid as it first seems and the RFL board have dropped a major balls up.
Like I said earlier this could see the end of the current RFL board.

Im pretty sure the whole rugby league community will have something to say about it, some will agree with the decisions and some will want to hold protests and burn willie mason cut outs as effigie's.

Rules have been bent before and will continue to be bent. Im not saying this is a good thing for the sport but it happens and all clubs will do it if they are given the opportunity.

I cannot see the problem, if Mason had come in on a Tongan passport none of this would have happened. The situation will be resolved within days and is really just a paper excersise. If we had de-registered Dobbo and brought in Thurston for 10 weeks and then re-signed Dobbo, then even I would be shouting 'foul', but if Dobbo had been fit and Willie had come in on his Tongan assport and they would both be playing against Crusaders, no third player would have been involved as is the case now.

Garbage. Some clubs choose to bend the rules to the extent that the RFL have now had to issue 3 if not 4 separate statements. I'm sure Rovers are in very good books at Red Hall right now.

Anyone would think that the rules are only available to us, as has been pointed out, Catalans did the same thing and Wigan have done it. I would n't have a problem with any club doing similar.

cant really blame rovers for using loopholes, think any team would do it, but its about time these loopholes where closed,doesnt do much for the rl game imo

Have alot of time for your posts but the RFL wanted this.
No matter how bitter you are about this Rovers have been smart, they have signed the biggest player this generation to ever grace these shores whilst keeping (in my opinion) the best player in SL.
At some point this season rovers will start with Mason, Dobbo, Green, Galea and Newton so your bitterness is well understood

TBH I never assumed that the Rovers board had been stupid. My take on this is that both Rovers and the RFL have been forced by circumstance into using tactics that both would have preferred not to, and that [imight[/i have wider consequences. The reluctance with which the full story has come out indicates the seriousness with which both parties view it.

My guess would be that the RFL are now busy assessing the fallout from their two available choices (allow the re-registration or not) and determining which comes with the least fallout for them. The most likely outcome will be a yes decision but it may well cost them.

I don't think it will as Ralph Rimmer stated on radio humberside that all super league teams have had some special dispensation at some time and a lot of other clubs don't know about it, as long as were within the cap and quota then there should be no reason for them to decline Dobbo resigning.
