when i first saw him thought he was very average,but been impressed the few times have seen him since, not many good fb kicking around and he looks one of them,

I have now reverted to my first impressions of him and have decided he is rubbish.

All the positive comments I have made over the last few weeks were lies.

One thing you do not do is sign for Hull if we want to keep you.

I know fans are fickle and we get annoyed/frustrated when things like this occur but, Mcdonnell has definitely not been largely disappointing by any stretch of the imagination. Also there is still a long way to go this season so what exactly would be achieved by "binning off" McDonnell. He's still a rovers player at the minute and should be supported as such.

It's not a stretch of my imagination, it's my opinion that he's an average full-back who has in recent weeks started playing better. I'm also not annoyed or frustrated that he's moving on for that exact reason, as I said, good luck to him. I certainly won't be booing him and whilst he wears a Rovers shirt I will also support him, however I feel it's in the best interests of the team that IF we have plans in place to play someone who is already in the squad at FB next season, that player should play there from now on. That way they (and therefore the team) will be in far better position come the start of the season. IF the plan is to bring in another fresh signing at FB then fair enough, Shannon should clearly remain there. Just seems to make obvious sense to me.

If true I would play him on Friday night to give the fans their opportunity to vent their feeling towards this individual. I would then let him kick his heals in the 20's for the rest of the season. JUDAS !!!!!

Good luck to him, he's found himself a better deal elsewhere and you can't knock that. Looked ordinary to start with but has shown great improvement over the last few weeks, well since stating he wasn't re'signing with us lol. IMO we haven't got a ready made replacement at the club so CS had best get looking.

I'm ecstatic that our game is on TV on Friday so the watching public will be able to hear the East Stand finest boo McDonnell (should he play).

Quite agree 70s. I also, never underestimate how parochial some people are.
Considering he got booed on the back of the news he had rejected a contract offer from us, to the news now he's FC bound. This news will be enough to send some of our fans over the edge. They'll be frothing at the mouth to vent their frustrations that one of ours has rejected us and is heading to them. The overall picture is lost on these people. I hope I'm wrong.

Will be happy if he comes to us tbh, he looks to be getting better as the season progresses, apparently Finch was average initially at Wigan according to their fans and obviously he has settled so here's hoping this kid will develop more in time.
Regarding booing him wtf! Shaun Briscoe came to you lot from us and has never received any-thing but respect from FC fans over the years, the kid is earning a wage simple as really.

Apart from the ones seen on TV laughing and waving when he was carried off with a head injury at Craven Park a couple of years back.
McDonnell is improving, and benefitting from regular first team rugby, something he didn't get at Newcastle, time will tell how good he will go on to be. People need to realise this being anounced now is apart of modern RL, with players and coaches moving from club to club having to play out their presnt contracts, I just think, it's about a month since he said he wasn't signing for us for next year, since then he's only improved, heres hoping he keeps this up and helps our end of season push for the play offs. I can't see booing him helping with this.

Paul Cooke played for you lot and left to earn a better wage too.
