| Underwhelmed of Pickering here.
Liam Salter. We should be saving our coin for someone better imo. Sheens needs to get in his ear and show him the way to the try line. 17 tries in 82 appearances is pretty cack for an outside back/centre.

| Welham under Sheens would be a welcome addition. Needs to abandon his defensive brain farts, but far more creative and attack minded than Salter. Would fail to get past Goose's ginger filtration systems though.

| Quote ="Mild Rover"Dave K asked 'I wonder why?'
Well, players facing criminal charges have carried on playing for us and other clubs a number of times. Sometimes even after convictions, though there's usually then a punishment suspension.
The question then is more 'why would they suspend him?', and that comes down to the nature of the allegations, and the potential for reputational damage - like Sunderland suffered as a result of not suspending Adam Johnson. Presumably Rovers made a judgement that it was unlikely that a court would find Walker guilty, as proved to be the case.'"
Did Adam Johnson not plead "not guilty"? Sunderland FC supported him in this only for him to then plead guilty when the evidence was revealed to court?
Admittedly Sunderland didn't cover themselves in glory but I can fully understand why they may have feel let down by Johnson...along with being let down their legal advisers who should have given his evidence a thorough grilling.

Welham of 2015, yes. Welham of 2013 and 2014 no.
Salter is in the club because....
1) he's probably cheap,
2) It means our squad can now boast 8 whole players
3) Might be OK in the Championship but not SL quality.
Ignoring players most likely to go, I hope we still keep....
Mantellato
Dixon
Jubb
Wardill
We need halfbacks from somewhere as well.
I'm waiting patiently for the Sheens pulling power effect, although in the Championship that might be limited.

| Hull daily mail today says those staying loyal are staying put...and according to the solicitor the others couldn't wait to run for the hills.
Maybe they ran in aborhent horror at what they were offered.
I doubt KR fans are going to see their faves stay....not something they the players decided but something the club decided for them....
interesting how the club speaks of loyalty.

| I agree cra3yfan that article is so hypocritical. Those staying loyal are staying and then it says that players want to stay but the hierarchy has different ideas. Is that hypocrisy??????. You cannot blame Walker for being disloyal can we when the club being disloyal to those who want to say. Maybe players are being smoked out just like what the Chairman wanted by offering ridiculous contracts.

Interesting first ever contribution. I look forward to your views being aired frequently around here over the coming months. Clearly someone with much knowledge of the workings of Hull KR.

It's money directly from the Chairman's pocket so I think he reserves the right to save money where he feels it appropriate.
However if JM had been offered a significant pay cut then I do think that is ill-judged as he will already be on less than other overseas players and has consistently out performed the others ( Bobby and Ken aside)..

| As well as an employee-employer tension over 'loyalty', I wonder if it is a bit of an intergenerational thing as well. The board, and to a large extent the fan base are baby boomers and generation x and grew up with different attitudes and expectations. The players are millennials, for whom employment is, speaking broadly, more transactional and there is a need to be more hard nosed economically. That doesn't reflect on them morally, it is just the way the world is for younger people nowadays. So they tell me. Their peer group will understand this and will advise them accordingly.

Speaking as someone from the "good old day's " of winter rugby, flat caps and woodbines. Players would gravitate to their local club following friends and family members.
Only those who reached the heady hights of representatives rugby sort to move for bigger paydays.
Today's players do so to put food on the table so sell their wares to the highest bidder, and so they should.
But I do agree that us aged ones do still put loyalty before requirement were our rugby is involved and maybe allow this to cloud our opions.

As stated before, I can see Sio heading back to the NRL for his young family still in Aus. This was probably going to happen regardless.
Greenwood is likely to go because he is being looked at by Wigan/Saints. Even staying in SL this might have happened.
I hope Josh stays, and Dixon will be a fantastic player in the Championship.
According to HDM, Donaldson will stay. Solid performer but not big enough.

| Recruitment and retention this year needs to be a mix of those who can get us out of the championship plus a good sprinkling of players who can kick on in the Super League if we are lucky enough to get promoted.
So some of last year's squad yes, some old heads from the been there and done it bregade yes, then we need young developing players, either from our own ranks, amature rugby or the NRL.
To do this we need to make squad space, so some people will be disappointed with what they are offered. This is were Hudge & J.P. will show if there up to the task, if not, next year's close season will be even more brutal were contracts are involved.
I for one will be waiting till requirement is complete before starting to worry !!

Will go well in the championship I think people tend to forget that he didn't have a settled half back partner with him last season depending who we sign an old head alongside him should see him come on
