Love this thread, it's starts of my talking about a rovers obsessed hull fan, then all the rovers fans talk about is, the fact that rovers are a bigger brand name than hull because you were once mentioned on eggheads.

There are people in Hull who are not quite sure of the difference between Hull FC and Hull KR, as remarkable as that seems.

This topic may have drifted a bit but just wanted to share an experience in 2001 whilst my partner and I were living in Grenada, West Indies. Quietly having a sunset drink in the yacht club - a beautiful yacht sailed into the harbour ..... and yes - its name was Hull Kingston Rover - its owner had bought it from a guy from Hull living in Australia and had sailed it from there to the West Indies ... complete with HKR plaque mounted proudly on the bulkhead in the galley .... even my partner, an F C fan .. was well impressed. Sadly our photographs of the yacht and its owners were lost when we lost our own boat in 2004 in Hurricane Ivan but I can still that yacht saiing into harbour under full sail ... a happy memory ... now you can all go back to arguing .....

The game of rugby league certainly does travel well .... whilst still in Grenada and running a bar for a couple of years we had the pleasure of the Kiwi cricket team and their fans until the very early hours of one morning .... and what was the main topic ... not cricket .. but rugby league!!!!!

I once went Skegness and got talking to a lovely old woman on the beach walking her dog, she was from Ipswich on holiday.

I asked her if she had heard of Hull KR she said "no, but I have heard of Hull FC"

It was wonderful confirmation of what I'd always known that Hull FC were a far bigger brand and club than Hull KR.........................

It is our unusual name that sticks in peoples minds because when i was young and used to watch rugby special on a sunday afternoon i had no idea who were the top RU sides all i remember is that Leicester had letters on there backs instead of numbers and there was a team called Preston Grasshoppers
