Problem with espresso is you can't savour it for about an hour. Most coffee shops go too heavy on the milk; lattes are supposed to be 2 thirds milk to a third espresso, cappuccino 1/3 milk, 1/3 froth, 1/3 espresso, but most places put a shot of espresso in a pint of hot milk. I ask for extra shots and milk that's been heated longer. Starbucks opposite my work are very accommodating, as they should be considering my weekly spend.

I think it's what you're brought up with. As you say, the core skills amongst Northern hemisphere players are very low. But they have to spend a lot of training time practising set pieces, I assume. Down here they wonder what the point of an uncontested scrum is, while I wonder that they are willing to wait several minutes and multiple resets to have a contested one. If I can't see the ball I get bored, while rolling mauls really do stir the soul of RU types.

Super 14 (15 now?), is a good spectacle. Don't care who wins, but I can admire it. In Leicester it seems to be distrusted - they seem to fear the traditional character of the sport will be lost if it becomes entertaining.

Went on a walk in Shipley Glen this afternoon - weird with the autumn leaves but unseasonably warm weather. They're predicting an early winter too, maybe early frost and snow in a couple of weeks. Much as I like scrunching the autumn leaves, it does seem weird doing it such warm weather. Something to do with the quality of light and the height of the sun in the sky.

It's Mr W's birthday next week. as he's away at sea I have to think of something nice for when he comes home. He is a motorbiker (his dream bike is out of the question) he has the unfornuate habit of supporting the (spit) Black and Whites, a Season Ticket is not of much use (he is only available for 5-6 games) so what do I buy him, without swelling the B&W coffers too much? A brain transplant isn't feasible, there is no way he will ever switch to the Mighty Rovers.
