Thought Abdull was over 6 ft looking at him compared with our forwards. I see now where I went wrong

This has always been my argument against Abdul playing 13 too. A lot of Hull fans want to see him at 13, and I can understand why, he's built like a forward, he's got lots of skill, and fits the Knocker/J.Smith/Cooke mould we've seen in the past at Hull.

However, Hull's 13 as it currently stands needs to make 15-20 hit ups a game doing the hard yards and do a shed load of tackling, and I'm not sure he's physical ready for that yet.

The thing is at Hull would he need to do that, you have a team that are primarily all built like forwards, your wingers take a lot up as do the props and 2nd rowers, Griffin as a centre is also capable of running it in hard. Why do you then need to flog the loose as well, let him play the extra pivot role with more of a freedom to take on the line.

The team top of the league have a relatively light 13 in the shape of Milner and he seemed to be doing ok.

Shock, I agree with the Rovers fan above. Hull need to play a pivot at 13, as Shaul doesn't have the skill set to do that. We can "sacrifice" a prop at 13, for a pivot due to the size of the backs

They do, but Milner has been conditioned over the years to playing down the middle, and isn't used in the same way, he's not used as a pivot. Conditioning is different to size. You can be the biggest bloke on the pitch, but what use are you if you're blowing after 10mins?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Abdul at 13 for Hull, it'd massively improve our attack. I agree with Wilde that by having Shaul at FB, we don't have a 3rd pivot, and our attack suffers for it.

My point was, the way Radford sets up the team, Abdul isn't quite ready to fulfil the 13 role at Hull. Could we change to a ball player loose? Yeh of course.

Whilst we should aim to win every game in the m8s, the chances of beating Warrington are very slim and Catalans are also quite slim. Ad long as the team is capable if beating the rest, we have a very goid chance. Stop worrying about Toulouse away, Feath away in the m8s is more worrying if it falls that way.

I wonder why they've waited this late to try and make signings, youd think they'd get them in earlier so they can learn plays and calls. Its a good job Sheens knows what hes doing (hopefully)

I assume budget constraints is part of it.

BUT I keep reading we have plenty of the budget left or is it to save money or the players can not get a release yet

Be amazed if we bring in anyone other then mose wouldn't be surprised if that goes Pete tong (very cynical of you mark)

From what I hear we still have a fair bit still available on the cap, so two or three additions to the squad are quite possible.
We will soon find out I guess.

Are you happy with your squad for the rubbish 8s?

I'm a bit nervous, but if Jamie Acton gets around 4/5 game ban then i think we'll be ok as he might only miss 1 to 2 games as he would've served 3 games prior to the 8s. He really does make a difference. I'm happy with the squad, but i think we've under performed quite a few times this season. We are capable of stepping up, and it certainly will be required in the 8s.

I think they will throw the book at him tbh even if it wasn't as dangerous as it first seemed.... I actually think Widnes have played a lot worse then you guys (at times), can't see us making more then one signing

I cant see Acton getting less than the 8 quoted, silly thing to do even if the actual event didn't harm anyone the potential will be looked at, add that to his previous and it looks gloomy for him.

Widnes have arguably been the worst team in the league of late but there plastic pitch may give them an edge but only a slight one. Can't see wire and cats struggling either so it looks a 3 way shoot out between us and the bottom 2. (that is if we can pick up some form and actually look bothered by then).

Although i don't condone his actions,Acton has never injured anyone when he's been up in front of the disciplinary panel for all he's bans,the outcome has always been "Potentially".There have been quite a few incidents this year from other players, where potential injury could've been very serious. Just one example is ,Gildart could've had a career ending injury through a crusher tackle, fortunately he back playing after about 3 months. Brett Ferres - Outcome = Sin bin 6 match ban, £300 fine.

With Atkins, McGuire and Masoe announced (yes, I know McGuire isn't for the 8s) and probably no overseas space, not sure who else we could bring in anyway that would improve the squad. FWIW They could release JBF for a quota spot - him and Kavanagh just haven't done enough this season. Not bad, just not good enough. James Green hasn't had a look in at Leigh this season. Bring him home for the 8s?

Wouldn't disagree with you about JBF, especially if Minns is coming back. JBF does some nice things but has made a few howlers too.

I like Kavanagh and think he goes under the radar a bit but is an effective player for us. I'd have Clarkson and Horne well ahead of him if we are looking to offload a forward.

With Masoe coming in the front row looks to have strength and depth. At least relative to previous years.

I think we are in a good spot in that if we bring a player in the have to be a bloody good player to oust one of starting 17.

I like Kavanagh, I think he's done well for us and would be ahead of some our other middle players for me.

James Green - if he hadn't come through the ranks, there'd have been a lot less talk of props not reaching their prime until they're older. Reasonable squad player, but wouldn't be in our starting 17 now, IMO.

I think 1 more big forward could do it and yes we have Maguire for next season but he wont be last if we go up, but feel a English forward like U say green or a championship player who is wasted at their club..
