You are clearly a more patient man than me. No amount of "gel" will fix some of the fundamental basics that we have wrong in the team. I last saw us win a game on August 16th 2013, my patience is wafer thin. For those not fortunate/stupid enough to have travelled to Headlingley that night, it's the start of July since Craven Park witnessed a home win.

These type of statistics drive customers away and they find other things to do with their spare time. Most on here are institutionalized so we put up with the mediocre but the target audience, the ones with customer number 6001-8500 are not as daft as us. They want to be "entertained", whatever that means, I gave up on that a long time ago.

I'm still hoping that things come good for Sandercock. Not least for the selfish reason that we start winning ASAP. And I honestly don't think it is an entirely forlorn hope - yet.

Obvious choice, IMO: Chester. If he can put his knowledge of SL together with the best elements of Morgan and Sandercock, then he'd do well, I reckon.
Leftfield - Paul Deacon. He's been around winning cultures for much of his career. He'd command plenty of instant respect. I saw him give an interview one time and he was clearly bright and thoughtful. Harris will be closer to the Wigan job, and Wane might well do a few more years, so I'd think we'd be a decent option for someone like him.

But, y'know what? let's please just beat Bradford and Wakefield and so on, and it's one less thing to stress.

I agree, but time isn't a limitless commodity. I believe/hope that it'll turn. But unless and until it does the screw keeps turning. Alongside the somewhat disappointing results during this very, very tough run of fixtures there's been some quite deeply concerning issues. When it comes together, it might all click beautifully.

To this point though, the new pack looks more heavy than powerful, our edge defence is still erratic and there's not massive potency in the halfs. Plus the tendency to start each half of a match slowly, and have spells where we concede tries in batches has gone on too long to be considered a blip.

Win a couple and it'll look rosier, but performances and results have to improve. 'We're confident and are working really hard to fix things up', is reaching the end of its shelf-life.

I'm sure Sandy is trying his best. No one starts their day saying they're going to try to be rubbish today. The question is whether his best is good enough. But after 3 years of questionable defence and his inability to get these good players (on paper) motivated and working as a team, is it time to let him go before the team is completely sunk?

In the end, we all just want the team to start winning and ultimately it's up to our generous board to make that call.

The aim of this thread was simply to speculate that if the board does make the decision to replace him, who realistically would we like to see take over.

I mentioned Francis Cummins at the start although most of the others also have merit. IMHO I'd like an English coach again, someone experienced and with some fresh ideas.

The coach hasn't been missing 40 tackles a game maybe just maybe the players should shoulder some of the blame

indeed they should but its not a new issue is it? same faces in general still missing the tackles so if the coach cant fix it, even after bringing his own men in maybe just maybe someone else should have a go at fixing it

James Webster for many reasons:

Legend as a player for us
Did an amazing job as short-term player-coach (e.g. the NRC Final win)
Knows the club very well
Extremely well-respected in east Hull (and even west I sense)
Has gained experience as an assistant at two clubs at least now hasn't he?

Stan:

One of our all-time greats (IMO)
Loved by the club, fans and area
Contacts in England, PNG and maybe Aus

Okay either would maybe be a gamble, but ATM the club is in it's worst position since gaining promotion, and Sandercock (along with many others) have stripped the heart and soul from what was once an RL club and one people cared about. With him in charge we'll be Championship in the very near future, therefore I don't see what there is to lose.

Whilst it's hard to argue that results, and indeed performances haven't been up the expected or required standard how has the heart and soul been stripped from the club, and if so how is Sandercock to blame for that?

I don't believe the heart n soul of the club has been ripped out but i do believe that under Morgan he felt everything the fans felt and he give us a team to be proud of following you just have to look at our away support under sandercock!

I would want him to stay, As someone has compared us to the Man U fans moaning, the one thing their club did at the start of the Ferguson era was to stick with him & we all know how that went. I would stick for a couple of reasons the main one is there are no replacements to come in even if we got rid. If a new boss came in it is still the same squad & would take time to re train (more time than it will take Sandy to turn it round). I said a few years ago that James Webster would be one of the most important signings the club would ever make & he would possibly go on to coach this club to the top, I still believe that to be true but I think he needs a couple of years as an assistant first. I also think Sandy & the club have been unlucky we have had started to produce a few good youngsters who would step up into the first team unfortunately they are playing in other clubs fist teams (Taylor Beaumont & if rumours are to be believed Cox will be off at the end of the season) We have a lot of changes in the side & we should have a bit of faith in the club & its team to sort it out. I don't think we will be in the bottom two but we will be lucky to make the playoffs, Give they guy a chance & review at the end of the season.
