I just think our recruitment priorities should be elsewhere, and hopefully so do the club.

If Rovers do sign him then it will confirm what I have heard, and that is the new investor is funding the deal (transfer and all). I actually thought NH was going to announce it in his chat on HKRTV but he fell short with his reference to having secured funding beyond 2014.

Don't know where we're going with this. Loved Charlie as a player & was gutted to see him go but Hudge made the right decision at the time. Life moves on, he seems happy & settled at Wakey now, would he even want to come back? My guess is that he signed quite a modest deal at Wakey & this is just an agent seeing what his options are.

If you are of the opinion that a player indulges in behaviour or expresses views or opinions that are so much at odds with your own views and opinions (and for me this is the case with Ben and his views on race) then you are entitled to be of the opinion that you would not like that player back at the club you support.
wether other players (who don't play for us) have behaved in a worse way or how good Ben himself may be at rugby is frankly irelevant.
I won't have any say in wether Ben comes back to Rovers or not but I have the right to say that for the reasons stated above I hope it doesn't happen

His expressed opinions on race and immigration reported on the mail taken from his Facebook were disgusting. it would be a shamefully and embarrassing episode if he should return to the club.
On the rugby side a liability. Can't catch high kicks and is a penalty waiting to happen. Saw him lose us plenty of games through indiscipline. Fan favourite. If buffoons and nasty ones are your thing then this guy is your man. Why Don't we go the whole hog and start monkey noises when opposition black players get the ball if Ben is your thing.

I can't deny he's a competent and versatile SL player - even if his England call-up did smack a bit of McNamara trying to convince the world that he does a single solitary **** about form.

But it isn't a position of obvious priority, and it'd presumably require a fee or exchange! For a player we released after he blew his [uthird[/u chance. If he has 'grown up', then good - but how would the club look if he did have another 'off-field issue'? There are surely other players who offer as much on the ooc list.

As a PR exercise, irrespective of what else is going on at the club, it would seem like a double edged sword at best. If Sandercock has identified him, then fair enough, but I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering if there is more to it.

He admitted to and apologised for making racist remarks on his Facebook page which it was also reported contained inflammatory remarks about immigration. This is a matter of public record and is not denied by Ben Cockayne himself.
That to me is racism and an unsavoury attitude towards other races.

I'm not particularly bothered either way if we sign him again. If Sandercock and the board think it is for the good of the club, then so be it. I just disagree entirely with this embarrassing pretend moral high ground that some people are trying to speak from.

He absolutely did admit to it and he apologised publicly for it.
Im not sure what you mean about pretend moral high ground or who you are aiming that comment at but I'll be totally clear I am 100% against racism and I'm not pretending about that.
Ben Cockayne and his views/racist terminology mean that I would prefer him not to play for the team I support.
That is my view and im not trying to make it yours as well but I do think attempting to deny or deflect from the racist element of Ben's history is wrong. If you dont think it was that big a deal and your willing to overlook it as long as Ben pulls on the Rovers shirt again then just say that, but let's not pretend it didn't happen.

Admitting to have said what he said and apologising for doing so does not constitute admitting to making a racist comment. He apologised for the damage caused by what he had written but denied being a racist and no views were ever expressed about a race. Substitute the word he used for another race and nobody bats an eyelid as no actual racism took place, hence the quickly dropped charges. Not wanting him back is fine, not agreeing with what he has done is normal but nobody can make accusations as to his views on other races as nobody knows what they are, despite what the Hull Daily Mail told you.
