| Ben Galea's been one of, if not our best player since joining S/L imo. Id have liked the club to offer him 1 more year and maybe then the coaching role, if he goes to Hull I'd be suprised as its not in with AP's only signing the best young English players theory.

Why on Earth would we do that? Joining Hull FC is a professional choice, not some sort of crime. Loads of people have moved in one direction or the other, including some genuine greats.
Great player for us, top pro. Might well have another year in him.
But altogether now... 'we had his best years'
From a Hull FC POV, it seems a leftfield (that's not to say 'bad') option - If it's true - Skytext is saying he's 'not expected' to move to Hull.

Terrible lack of respect for someone who's continually been your stand-out player. Most FC fans over the years have acknowledged what a great player he is. I would take him at Hull for a year - players like Galea are hard to find. Under Gentle we would have a gem.
You'd better bookmark your statement for when Taylor leaves.

| I feel Ben would be a strange signing for a supposed 'top team'. He would probably still command a reasonable salary and his chances of staying fit for a full season are slim at best. What have we had out of him this season 7/8 decent games?
You wouldn't see any of the top teams retaining a player of this age when he's just missed 2/3 of the season. It was a sensible decision by Rovers to let go.
If he goes to Hull good luck to him...but very risky signing.

| Top pro, imo the best signing we've made in super league, and good luck to him wherever he goes, even if it's FC.

| Galea won't sign for Hull. It seams to be the norm now that every good rovers player available will come to Hull because they know Gentle. The Daily Mail like to create a story so if it ever come off they can say they told u first. Remember Yeaman to Rovers and Horne to Rovers. Even as Hull fan we seem to be linked with everyone and with Pearson and McRae stating the signings are English Knights or potential Knights this move seems unlikely. Plus is Ben Galea a quota player

| I think Rovers are doing the right thing. He doesn't play as many games as he used to, and has a good game about every 1 in 4. If he signs for FC, then more power to him, but I for one wont be quaking in my boots at the thought of facing him next season.

| This is a really painful little period in the life of a Rovers fan. Shocking run of results, play offs a distant memory and the shrinking playing budget becoming a reality.
Benny G has been just about my favourite player since we got promoted, not just for his on field contribution, but also for his off field professionalism and for being a really nice guy. I'm really saddened that he's going, but it's probably the right decision given his 4 months out injured this season. I reckon the 2nd injury at Saints, leading to a month out probably did for his contract hopes, along with our season.
If he ends up at Hull, I won't blame him, he doesn't want to leave the area, and he's got a living to earn. It will just take a small bit of gloss off the memories he leaves me with though. That's not for him to worry about, I'll deal with it.
My guess is that it's yet another HDM headline taken from this very website. The gutter press are light years ahead of the local comic. I hope I'm right, 1st time for everything I suppose.

Oh cheer up you old misery.
The North Stand is going up, we've got a few promising young players coming through and going pop only costs 6 league points. Really want to see (well, hear) us win today - but if not, the pain is over for a few months at least.

Before my time, but at this distance Peter Flanagan or Paul Rose moving to Hull after giving Rovers excellent service hasn't hurt their HKR legacy, has it?
The human mind has an excellent edit function!
I dislike HFC, but only on the most superficial level.

Most likely - but blaming journalists for sensationalism is like blaming politicians for dishonesty or letting agents for being lazy, bullying =#FF0000Self-edit-MR.

| Looks a shrewd bit of business to me.
Quality player whose a model pro becomes available at a reasonable price who will also massively contribute to the mentoring and development of their youngsters.
Exactly what he should have been doing next season at Rovers.

He did say 'mostly' in fairness, iirc. Though it is looking like a narrow majority now if they get McDonnell, Holdsworth, Chase and Galea. On the other hand their most recent press release did, in something of a presentational 'change of tack', represent Watts and Pitts as new signings for 2013 who arrived early. Whether something has maybe gone slightly awry is... well a subject for the Hull board.
Ben Galea has given superb service to Hull KR. It has been a privilege to see him in a Rovers shirt.

Up to a point, yes. But how many ex-Wests Tigers, 30-something backrowers, who've won a Grand Final does one club need?
Mentoring has its place, but there's no substitute for experience of doing something yourself. I'm sure people like Vella, Newton and Galea have helped the development of certain young players - but at some point they need to step aside so we can finally start to see the fruits of that development.
Primarily we brought those players in because we hadn't had time to bring through many of our own. When mentoring becomes a major factor, that's what coaches are for. I'm not sure I believe the figure being bandied about, in fact I'm certain I don't, but if it's anywhere near it'd be, at best, at the very far end of reasonable.

| Cant believe whats going on at Rovers its like being kicked in the guts again. 2012 will go down as a very bad season. All we need now is Ben Galea to score the winning try for thunder next season in the grand final, and i think its humber bridge time again. The whole world seems to be flocking to the kfc.
