| attacking wise could be brilliant as he could pop up in the line wherever etc, if his confidence isn't shot by making a big balls up early on. maybe he could attack as a full back and defend elsewhere.....

You're right, I should, I just worry about him concentrating for eighty minutes.

Aye, but it'll be best to accept him for what he is. Tbf, he did reasonably well at stand-off - certainly better than I expected. Confidence and concentration have always been issues, but progress has been made with the first at least.
We were a bit thin in the backs this year, so I'd hope a wing/fullback is signed to replace McDonnell for depth's sake if nowt else. I think Latus does a decent job, but unless he kicks on he's a squad player really. No shame in that, of course.

| How far is Sheriff off, obviusly he's a player youve taken care over and not rushed into first team.
Will he be the one?

| I can see Hally taking over Shannon’s role in the team and making a better fist of it as well.
I would argue Hally’s defensive frailties are no worse than Shannon’s. Without a doubt Hally has improved his defence and positional play this season.
IMO neither Hally nor Shannon are in the mould of a classic fullback, but they are both excellent offensively. Both of them link up in the line and create openings. Yes, there will be head-in-hands moments but that’s the nature of the beast with Hally. Wherever he plays he will be the same lol! But there will also be moments of sheer magic, like we have seen many times this season.
Then there is young Sheriff. IMO he is at the stage where he is too good for reserve grade but is he good enough for SL? Stanley and Deighton think so. I’m not so sure; he lacks presence and speed but his defence is solid and he is unfazed by the high ball. I read it many times on here that this player or that player isn’t ready but you never know unless they are given a chance. Perhaps its Sheriff’s time.
However, having said all of this, the rumour mill keeps mentioning Kev Naigama. . .

He won't get the 1 shirt, I'm pretty sure of that. Hopefully, at 20, he'll be close to offering cover at least - with Hall being versatile that could work well.
Still ooc, as far as I know.

IMHO he will never be ready for SL level. I've seen him in the U20s and he still makes some big =#FF0000Edit-AS ups.

Big test of Sherriffs credentials tomorrow. Hull have a good under 20s side and these are the type of teams that he has to stand out against in order to give Sandercock a nudge.
I think he is ready and only 2 serious leg injuries have stopped him staking a regular claim for a place already.

| Regarding Craig Hall, the only thing I would worry about for him being a fb is his ability under the high ball.
His one on one tackling isn't that bad and if you take a look at two of the best full backs of the last 10 years in Tomkins and Lockyer, tackling isn't always the highest of priorities.
The prospect of Hall being able to chime into the attacking line at will is an exciting one as well, I can't work out whether I'd welcome the move or be terrified of it!

Just had a text from a friend saying we are going in for this guy!
Anyone else heard this or should I just ignore him?

I would be very suprised given the fact that he's around the 32/33 years of age.

Tomkins!! You could have chosen Slater, Inglis, Barber, but you typed Tomkins!! He can barely catch a cold that lad.

Not worth a couple of years?
Hodgson seemed to do okay for himself when he came over from Aus!!

Despite his age he's had a very good season with the Roosters, can't imagine he's really in our price bracket though.
