| Thread drift to dirty blue nose scousers .... eeeek
The only thing in common we have with Everton is, we both offer the worst value for money away ends in our respected divisions.

| Quote ="Jake the Peg"After 2 spawny wins the man is now heralded as the next wayne bennett in east hull. Of course, if Hull and wire hadn't put their respective cues on the rack at the right time for rovers then he'd be a useless aussie whinger who should be on the next plane home.
The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle'"
There's something in what you say certainly fans are very fickle.
But I have said from day 1 that Sandercock is a great appointment for Rovers and I have never wavered from that view.
He works so incredibly hard people at the club actually tell him to ease off. He is a 100% hands on coach and all of the players are getting individual guidance like never before.
Even Dobson has improved under Sandercock - he has been asked to take on the line a little more and his 2 tries last night were evidence of the value of that.
The one disappointing area has been the struggles we have had on defence. Loads of work has been put into this but it seemed we might have to wait for next season for it to pay off. But on the evidence of the last 2 games we are getting there now. BTW there was absolutely nothing spawny about Rovers win over Warrington we were by far the better side on the day.
With the increasing emphasis on youth Sandercock is even more important to Rovers. I hope and expect he will be with us for far longer than his original 2 year deal.

| The only downside to Sandercock is he was foolish enough to get caught by the Sky cameras getting far too over excited after Craig Hall got high tackled lol, looked like he was gurning

When we're winning that stuff becomes endearing.
He endured a tough start but 6 from 7 (the defeat coming away at SL's best team at this moment) is quite a response. I'm not going to get carried away thinking it is all jam from here, but he's shown he's resilient and can deal with and overcome adversity.
I guess Disco Dave's Derby Dash will live longer in the memory, but Scott Taylor's two tries @ Salford was maybe when we turned the corner (?).

I think the way we played against Hull whilst Dobson was in the sin bin may have been a big factor in our turn around too,

| Actually, I believe that it was after the derby at the KC that things turned around. The riot act was obviously issued and everything upped a pace (along with the return of Blake, although our injured again now).
We have lost one game in the last seven, and that was away at Wigan. In the end that was a respectable score as well, much better than most are getting from the Pie Eaters at the moment.
Please don't forget that at the start of the season, we had loads of injuries, loads of new players and a new coach. It was always going to take time to get into their stride.
And as for people saying that Huddersfield looked poor, nobody has actually pointed out that they were poor because we made them look ordinary rather than them just being generally poor which they weren't at the start of the game.

| We'll need a speculation thread as well as a rumour thread at this rate.
I believe the turning point was when I changed which turn style I enter the ground at for the London game, that and predicting we'll lose every week.

| Sanders is a people person and a great communicator on a one to one basis.
Players improve both on and off the field because he can get through to them what needs to be done.
The player he had most involvement with at Newcastle was Aku Uate, who went from a freak athlete and lousy footballer to the best winger in the world with lots of input from Sanders, and is currently going backwards rapidly. Uate has let in 3 soft tries in the two SOO games because his positional play has gone back to where it was pre-Sanders, and he'll be lucky to hold his spot.
I don't know anything about how Sanders goes with game plans etc, but it's absolutely no surprize that players are improving as the season goes on. Uate is as dumb as a plank, and he taught him how to play.

| That's quite interesting roopy sum of us and I was one of them wasn't sure about sandercock but the last few games I have watched our players that imo have improved and the stand out one for me is Dobbo, he's become really vocal his tackling has improved and when he takes on the line that's sum thing else, if the players can keep up with the attitude they have now there is no reason why this wouldnt be our most successful year in SL since we came back up, so if Newcastle nights don't want uate put him on the next plane over here.Roops do u still get to see SL games in Aus and if so what's ur thoughts.

2 more questions if you don't mind.
1 how do we pay for them when you consider that the Aus cap has pretty much doubled overnight, There is the fact that the AUD is far stronger against the GBP, The tax haven loopholes have been shut which when all taken into account would IMHO mean that good players will now cost around 2.5 times more than they did and we have a salary cap to stick too.
2 Don't you think it would be a better idea long term to focus a hell of a lot more on making our homegrown figures and players better as that is proven to be the best idea (Look to Leeds, Saints and Wigan as proof).

I thought thats what we were doing with the likes of Taylor and Hodgson who i hope and believe will be offered long term contracts at the club, plus one or two others such as Green and Salter who are on the fringes, but you have to consider the fact that one or two of the younger up and coming players will probably not be quite ready for another season or two, you cant simply throw them in at the deep end and hope for the best.
Therefore in the meantime you need good experienced players who will not only hit the ground running but will also help in the development of the young up and coming players at the club, with regards to players costing more to bring over from the Southern hemisphere, that may be true in the case of the more established players but, as far as i am aware Sandercock is looking at fringe players or players that cannot get first team places in the NRL, in which case they would probably be a much cheaper option.
I believe we need a balanced blend of youth and experience next season, in my opinion this can be achieved by bringing in possibly four or five quality additions while continuing to mature the current crop of youngsters at the club.
