If you read my posts, I absolutely slated Hull FC for signing Tony Martin. You're right, if any of these unknowns are of the calibre of Dobson then you're onto a winner, shame it'll be at the expense of English players.

No, all Hull KR fans do and as such, if you don't wear pink track suits you can't be a Hull KR fan.

It's nice that you care about how many English players we do or do not play. Personally, I couldn't give a rats, I'd just like to see my team do well. I'd happily (understatement) pay to watch Hull KR with a team full of Aussies if it meant they were unbeatable in Super League. Let's face it, They're so far in front that if say, Manly borrowed us their team, we'd probably win the Challenge cup, League leaders and Grand final.
I have no idea about numbers etc, but I've read a few times that your beloved Hull FC were the [uonly[/u club not to blood a youngster last season. Doesn't bother me.
Don't really care for the International game, I spend the off season doing other things to keep the missus happy and then go all out Rugby again in Feb. Obviously it's good that people do care and inject the money into the sport in doing so, I don't though. You can't really moan at Hull KR technically having 11 Overseas players and suggesting it's hurting the English national side, not when people like Rangi Chase get an England call-up.

Ofcourse I can, people like Rangi Chase getting an England call-up is a by product of people like Hull KR having 11 Overseas players. I think it's a disgrace Hull didn't blood a youngster and have only given 4 players their SL debuts since 2008.. infact you can see me post about it on the Hull board.
Manly are undoubtedly a better team than all of us and them playing in our league would definitely add to it and they would have the best players in most postions. But is Shannon McDonnell going to be the best full back in the league? Were Withers the best 9 or O'Hara the best prop in the league last year, or simply average players?
You say you don't care about International RL which is fair enough, it's your choice but surely you see how a strong England team will lead to a stronger SL and a better quality product of RL?

McDonnell looks promising, I'm looking forward to see him play. Withers and O'Hara [ishould[/i strengthen us in their respective positions, We're not going to be world beaters, a long way off it. I do think though, Withers will bring young Hodgson on nicely and as such, is quite a cute signing given that he's no on any quota.
I think there is more to the fact that the Aussies are way ahead of us than simply their quota rules, It's their main sport, it's like our Football, Their TV deals and everything are way more lucrative, Have you seen the price they charge for a jersey (as they call it)? They can't stock enough, they sell like hotcakes. Us kicking out all the Aussies, IMO wont have much effect on our national team, If anything, we'll fall further behind.

Give over, your transparency can be seen through by all except perhaps yourself.
If you want a stronger England team why not pick Michael Dobson at scrum half? There's a good case to say this would make for a stronger England team.
Dobson of course qualified on residency grounds a good while before Rangi Chase so no problem there. Widdop 6 Dobson 7 I reckon would work a lot better than the half back combo we had today.
Let's get Dobson in now. I mean can't you see how a stronger England team will lead to a stronger SL and a better quality product?
And here's another suggestion to strengthen the England team since you find it so important - ditch Yeaman. Unfortunately Jake Webster is still a few months away from being England qualified but I know you will be thrilled when in a few short months he becomes available to assist in your passion for a stronger England team.
He will of course then become the 28th member of the Hull KR full time squad to be England eligible.
p.s. any luck getting Obst 'off quota' yet? What with your quota being full , your non fed allowance full too it must be hard. Still with an Aussie coach and even an Aussie director of rugby on hand to work on the problem I'm sure this issue is high on the list of priorities.

| M62Robin, it seems your Q has been derailed by the ‘oracles’ you so much wanted to engage with.
How on earth it has bottomed with the usual rant about Rovers overseas contingent, a far cry from the pink track suits and skyscraper Lego (which now seem sensible!), is beyond me. Perhaps such preambles sum up the frustration of pre-season doldrums. Mind you, it often gets worse than this!
So, with all that’s gone before I will try and get this back on track (suit)!
I too have been looking at the squad and see something we haven’t had in the SL era;
more off-loading players – Paea, Mika, O’Hara, Withers, Horne and McDonnell. This to me is significant; these players will compliment the likes of Galea, Watts and Wheeldon who are also attack-orientated.
To me this all suggests Sandercock will be playing a very expansive game.

I'm not sure Dobson would lead to a better England team, nor Webster. They were good player but last season Sinfield, Chase and Widdop were far better players. FWIW, I don't think Chase should be playing for England and if teams produced good players instead of having, for example 11 overseas players, it wouldn't happen.
If you think my posts are a transparent attack at Hull KR I'd point you to these threads;

Good post. Lets use this to relaunch the the thread. If you want to do the overseas players thing over again, start a new thread. Anything along those lines in this one will be binned.

| Whilst Rovers fans have got they feet on the floor and will not be carried away with any speculation coming from players new or existing regarding the clubs prospects for next season, the fact is that the 2012 forwards are younger, more powerful and agile then those of the 2011 squad, on top of that the 2012 backs have had soon quality additions added and given a 50/50 bounce of the ball, luck in the injury stakes, more consistant displays and a tighter defensive unit. The 2012 Robins will cause a lot of problems for a good number of teams in the season. I am not saying we will win the Grand Final, but as Leeds proved last season, once momentum takes over anything is possible

| New coach & a load of new players...bit difficult to make a judgement until we've seen 'em play.
At face value a lot of our signings appear to be sideways, but too many of the departed players weren't at the top of their game for the last season or two, so I think in real terms we'll be slightly better off. We certainly look to have more depth.
I'm not expecting great things next season, just hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

| its hard to say how next season will go at this stage, a new coach whose only made 2 signings, (the rest were done before he got the job) and they only played a handfull of games between them, He talks a good game though, tightening the defence and been more consistent sounds good to me. im hoping the players gel quickly and we can hit the play offs again. its all exciting at the minute.
