No mate, they have only cleared the ground in preperation.

I have, however, found out this morning that work has been suspended due to Hull KR not being granted planning permission yet. They started the groundwork hoping that it would be granted during this period, but it hasnt happened.

Oh joy.

Indeed, it's not as if it's come as a surprise that we're planning on building a new stand and I don't think you have to be that much of a construction expert to assume that if you're thinking of building a whopping big structure complete with crematorium chimney you might have to get permission to do so.

It's in there as an approved minor amendment to an existing application - adding a door and 3 windows. Unless there has been another amendment to make since, but I can't see anything.

I belive they have a 3 year limit.
June 08 would still mean they are valid as the works have already started.

All I know is that I spoke to the site manager this morning. He said that work had been put on hold as there was no planning permission in place for the extension. When I was last there 3 weeks ago they didnt have the final design drawings at that point. I supose its possible that the drawings could have failed building regs. Either way, work is definitely on hold.

Building regs is probably true.
Infact Neil Hudgell mantioned the fact in a previous set of program notes.
But let us not forget that the previous extension was also held up over reg changes.

Well, it [uhas[/u only been 3 years in the planning. These things can't be rushed. I take it everything's still on track for the ground to be "unrecognisable" by the end of June? I will nominate pmh to be the independent arbiter of this statement as it's unlikely he'll actually attend a game before the date this statement is enacted, ie 2 July, with his convenient prior commitments to basket-weaving and CAMRA Royston Vasey weekends. As a consequence he will miss the construction phase of the East and clearance for the North. The test will therefore be whether he passes the apparently technically complex development known locally as the CP Deathstar, disorientated because the ground is just, well, unrecognisable.

Update on whats going on.

Turns out that the original design for the east stand extension didnt include any disabled areas. Obviously this was turned down. Rovers then said that they would build 2 more dug out type things at pitch level, this was rejected because it discriminated against the disabled in that it is their human right to be able to have the same atmosphere/experience as able bodied supporters, so the area had to be in the stand. Rovers then said that they would put double the disabled areas in the proposed North stand, this was also rejected.
So the plans were then re-drawn and submitted for Building Regs approval, but the Council Offices were closed for Easter. Predicted to be another month before the site is back open.

The North Stand is due to be awarded to a contractor in early June, with work due to start sometime in July.
