I cant see past us winning and winning comfortably. We will match them in the forwards, our half backs will control the game and our outside backs will finish them off.

People predicting wide margins for Rovers have clearly only been to a handful of derbies if that. They are unpredictable, however...

i see it being a slug fest down the middle and thus making it very close to call.

lots of factors are going to come into play.
1 start of season
2 a derby
3 the most important imo the time and place of the match.
its the last game of the weekend and will have had 6 other games previous so the pitch is not likely to be a fast pitch for free flowing rugby.

Last game of 7 on the same pitch in the middle of February will probably result in a forward battle, and in my mind Hull have the best pack (better at doing the tough stuff anyway).

Loving the overconfidence by some of you guys though, Rovers could quite easily win but I'd be very suprised to see a 20 point drubbing.

Both boards have got their over-optimists. There was a 'How many of the first 8 does Agar have to win?' thread where some Hull fans were saying 'we [ishould[/i (emphasis added) be winning 6 of those'.

1. How do you know which team is fitter? Depth of squad is irrelevant in first game. Speed is questionable, I don't think there is much in our back and your backs. Definitly not enough to win a game on its own.

2. Settled team? Hull made two signings this season and only lost Berrigan who was a regular starter.

3. Dobson granted, Blake unproven and hardly smashed NRL.

4. Hulls pack is better then Rovers even with Willie Mason.

5. Mason doubtful to play.

This has to be joke post of the year.

Yet we spend upto the cap and our recruitment and squad is better then yours.

I think Hulls forwards were absolutely outstanding last year, we had no half backs and did well because of the metres and defence they made, we didnt even have a good kicker and they still won a lot of games for us. Maybe Tickle is more important to us so I rate him higher.

I think if we lose the forward battle its game over though.
