Not unless they make the Championship Grand Final this year. On present form that's looking unlikely.
Shame.

Not only that Bri Mac is off to Leeds as assistant next season.
The office staff are all looking for new jobs too.

| =#FF0000As a general point, can people be careful when talking about finances and give other clubs same the courtesies you would hope for Rovers to be given (even if that hope is often disappointed). These things can take on a life of their own - Rovers are now often represented as one of RL's biggest financial basketcases, even on the VT and by fans of clubs other than Hull FC, despite their losses being fairly typical for SL.
Businesses obviously want to protect their reputations, so please either be vague (eg. 'rumours of trouble at certain clubs') or refer specifically to stuff in the public domain, ideally with a link. Thanks.

| Does anyone know if players now have a clause in their contracts that if they are booted out of SL they are free to look elsewhere?
All i can see is if a team like Salford go down, they will be looking at either been absolutely garbage (getting rid of any player(Holdsworth/gibson/patten) they can for money purposes) or litrally going under and been non-existant.

Their contracts will be SL contracts - their new squad might be garbage by SL standards, but they won't be playing SL. The extent of squad-swap between the 'promoted' and 'relegated' clubs will be interesting - but maybe not that much more than us taking Dyer and Ward from Cas - with Barker going the other way iirc. Especially with Widn..., I mean the new SL club finding out so much sooner.

So does that mean they could leave said club without that club getting any £££ for the player?
Also heard Toulouse are an option to come in, but i didnt think they would qualify; anyone got the lowdown about how far off they are?

Well yes, but the flip side of that is that if you went down with all your players still on SL contracts, you'd be bust within a fortnight. Very rarely do players command transfers fees, they're usually just released on a mutually beneficial agreement.

Only a Grand Final appearance or a Northern Rail Cup victory allows a Championship side to be considered under the remaining criteria. Neither Rovers =#0000FF(My edit:Featherstone), Toulouse nor Leigh have been able to boast that since losing out on the previous licence allocation.
At present, only four teams - last year's Grand Final winners Barrow, beaten finalists Halifax, plus this year's Cup winners Batley and last year's winners Widnes - are eligible for that Super League spot.

Yep, it'd be like a relegation release clause. The much smaller salary cap in the Championship (as well as massively reduced revenues of course), means that SL contracts [icouldn't[/i be honoured.

Just been reading the thread on the VT. An amendment was made earlier this to the RFL's operating rules, allowing foreign clubs who do not meet the criteria to be invited to apply by the RFL. You don't have to be a paranoid conspiracy theorist to smell a rat there.
Toulouse or possibly even Paris , could be joining Widn..., sorry an English Championship club, in SL for 2012. Not good news for Cas/Wakefield/Salford...

Oh I agree, but Fev have already come out and said (sensibly imo) that it's too early for them. I've no idea about Leigh though, I suppose it all comes down to finance with them as The LSV is an excellent facility.

Yeah thought so, just to me the RFL has already made its mind up to bring a northern french side and a championship club into SL, i personally would be bricking it if Rovers where in the same boat as Salford/Cas/Wakey.

| I think Salford are in a similar boat as quins regarding positioning. The RFL will want a greater manchester side in SL and they will get in.
