| Whatever we go with it's imperative that Galea remains defending down the left hand channel, last Sunday was the first time this season that we've looked even remotely organised down that side.
I do quite like the idea of Cockayne at 6, as long as it's purely in a running role leaving all the kicking, organising and passing to Murrell, Dobson ,Fisher and Galea.

Thing is, as proved by Webster's move to 6, you get found out in the halves if you're not both a good passer and kicker. We're already too reliant on Dobson without partnering him with someone who can't share the creative workload, whether they're a good runner or not.

You'd be surprised at Cockaynes kicking and organisational skills. His natural position is at 6 or 7.

| Cockayne played SO for Donny. Needs to sort out his passing though but I'd give him a go there, why not.

Is this like that time Rovers were in for Yeaman and you created a bit of a love-in for him on here , then when he re-signed for Hull you said he was a bit rubbish. I guess we can assume Rovers are in for McNally now, then.

I think you will find if your look through your database that i praised Yeaman in 2006 when at the time his form was fantastic.
He has done nothing to merit being spoken of as highly since as his form has been below average IMO for the last 3 years.
I also said that when Rovers signed Jake Webster then they had no need to be interested in Yeaman anymore.
I dont have an inkling if Rovers are interesting in McNally now but they were previously and he is a Stand Off.
And i think is is a talent worth taking a punt on if Hudds add to their squad as is being suggested on the Wakey forum then he moves futher down the pecking order at the Galpharm.

Sadly I don't have the dates of these quotes, which is remiss of me, but they quotes were all taken from the same period, and you talk about Willie Manu, who didn't sign for FC until, er, 2007.

Can Rovers accomodate another player under the salary cap?
I thought Cooke has been binned to help pay Clinton`s wage?
McNally would be a good signing though.

Read again i just told you when. 2006
And without Cooke, Yeaman's game suffered badly which is undisputable.
He has a long way to go before he hits his 2006 heights and would i want Rovers to sign him now.
No.
So whether he wants to sign or not i dont think he would currently add to the Rovers squad and he needs to fight off Hall,Turner and Briscoe to keep himself in Hull's 17 each week which should be your main concern not what is happening at Rovers.

TBF, this isn't the first time we've had this discussion. You should see what he said about Hull playing Leeds in 2005 CC.
So, your new stand-off. Wouldn't bringing someone in be a "kick in the teeth" to young Chas? Have you actually offloaded Cooke yet anyway?

Shows how thick you are then, doesn't it. The RFL police a rolling salary cap and if we had needed to offload Cooke to help, pay for him the RFL would not have sanctioned it UNTIL we had offloaded him.

| This thread is showing the first signs of going down that well worn path to lockage, which would be a shame as it is an interesting and relevant topic. Sorry to be patronizing, but if everybody could just count to 10 before posting that'd be good.
Mrs B, perhaps you could count to a larger number - 24,571, for example.
I think JAYHKR's posting record could be interpreted as a pretty damning indictment of us all. Or he might just have better things to do with his time, of course.

So unfair - it was me who tried to get it back on track.
Questions must be:
1) Is Cooke even gone yet?
2) If a new stand-off comes in, what is the message to I'Anson if the new player's not an established SL player?
I don't know the answer to 1.

1. Not a done deal according to Kear, but you get the sense he meant 'yet'. He might even have said it, I can't recall.

Wonder what the hold-up is now that the Wakey game is past - would assume an announcement early in the week. Feels like RLfans should hold a minute's silence to mourn the passing of one of our richest sources of pointless bickering of the past decade.
Don't know much about I'Anson but would be a bit surprised if Morgan brought someone else in before the end of the season really. If only because available quality stand offs aren't 10 a penny - may as well give him a shot.

Just made me laugh at the time. GML isn't very nice about FC players usually, which made me wonder whether there was an agenda with his Yeaman love-in as he approached the end of his last contract - let's face it, he's rarely so gushing about Rovers players, let alone FC ones. Yeaman then re-signs for FC and it transpires he only ever delivered anything because of Cooke (who by then, obviously had gone to Rovers).
Does concern me, therefore, that GML's been so nice about Richard Horne of late.
