its the stayin fit part at 33 that might be tough (you dont have best of luck with injuries anyway) and i'm not certain but he must have missed at least 35% of games from last 2 or 3 seasons with injury. if fit should lead an improved pack well

no doubt i'll get a load of grief but its my opinion.

A big part of him coming to Hull will be the role he plays bringing on the likes of Turner, Tansey, Washbrook and freeing up Richard Horne. The best thing I've read so far from his book is the slating he gave Noble for not doing enough ball skills in training and not establishing a gameplan 4 days before a game. Considering we appear not to do any gameplanning whatsoever, I'm hoping he uses his influence to demand we start doing so. Given his career to date, I think it's fair to say there are interesting times ahead at FC. Could be a huge success or a massive disaster, but doubt it will be quiet mediocrity.

I know Longy has been a great player and if Hull are lucky he'll have another 2 or so left in him, but there seems a lot of talk about his influence with the younger players and his presence in the dressing room. I was just wondering if this will be the case as he comes across as a bit of a law unto himself and in a way is this the kind of player who will impart knowledge or in a way even know how he does what he does or is it all abit of well 'I just know'.

I may be well off the mark but he seems the type that if it all goes wrong may be more of a disruptive influence rather than insperational.

You are right,he comes across as a bit of a maverick,but there is no doubting his class.Maybe he has matured a bit with age?

Plus signing for FC just means i can dislike him even more so now.

All in all, if you speak to fans from any team most will say he is/was a great player but they dont like him, hes just that type of player who gets on your nerves.

Think about all the money he will be able to make off the back of you lot every time he reads the team sheet!

I'd have to agree with you there, I met the man himself a few years ago in blackpool during the season when he was supposed to be recovering from injury, he was carrying on like a prize git. There's no doubting his talent but his attitude has always been questionable for me, perhaps he's grown up a bit now, (i'd be saying this if rovers had signed him also)

That was a criminal matter, not an RL one, whereas the gambling on match outcomes by players is something that the RFL should be punishing (and if any element of fixing is involved, the police as well).

Lets be honest,whatever the barrack room lawyers say on here,by the time the rfl get around to it Long will be retired anyway.
