Danny Houghton is a very good young player, that I can't deny, shame Agar can't see it.

| Quote ="nick hkr"I stated Gidley was a class above but Webster is still a NZ international and as good as Gidley's feet are its nothing to the power Webster has to barge through defences add to that his speed over 50yrds and he's a weapon most even Saints would relish in their nal.
Wasn't Fozzy a part of the 4 peice at Saints over the past few years? He had to be as good or there abouts to even be considered for selection. Add to Fozzy a Mick Vella and your looking at an awsome front row that hasn't even played alongside each for a full game yet!
Cooke on his day can be as creative and wise as any half back in the competition, Pryce has speed and elusive talents to his name but both players are different yet I'd say can be equally deadly in the middle.
Ok you rate Wilkin far ahead of Murrell, you've not seen too much the past year or two of Scotty then, he's like a man possessed and very rarely has an off day. His kicking game is better than Wilkins, his ball playing is as good if not better and with his extra weight he's put on I'd rate him pretty close to where Wilkin is.
The Rover players I mentioned I would suggest around 80% of other SL clubs wouldn't say no to having them as a part of their squads and would be regulars in their first teams.'"
First let me state that this is from the TV games and games Hull have had against both teams. I'm not going to claim I know more then you, just going on what I've seen.
Fozzard was but isn't anymore... Doesn't that tell you something, if he was as good as them they would have kept him because Hargreaves isn't exactly immense is he?
On his day yes but Pryce is a much better player then Cooke based on the fact he has done it week in week out whereas Cooke has done it very rarely.
I don't agree at all especially about the ball in hand bit. Murrell is very average from what I've seen.

| Quote ="nick hkr"Houghton yes Lee no chance. Fisher is under rated by many, ok he's never going to be an amazing hooker and it is something JM needs to address sooner rather than later but Fisher is solid in defence and has a good distribution, his ability to get penalties is as good as any other hooker in the world and his kicking from dummy half is pretty nifty. Not saying he's great just saying we wouldnt be where we are without him so dont write him off as a bad apple on a ripe tree at this moment in time Agar would have Fisher no question.'"
I don't think Agar would at all. I think Lee has played really well at hooker and Fisher for me wouldn't get into many other teams in the Super League as the first choice 9.

Are you having a laugh? No way is Lee a better hooker than Fisher. In the case of Houghton, at the moment I personally think Fisher has a better "all round game" but as we all know, Houghton is still young and learning his trade. Providing he gets some better coaching, I do however, think in the long run he will become a better hooker than the Fish. This is no disrespect to Fisher, because as Nick said he is very under rated in SL, and I always prefer our play when we have Fisher on the field.

| We are a top two side at present but i'll happily settle for being a top four side in just our third season in super league.
Thats what i call season upon season progression.

| Houghton is a dummy-half scooter and nothing much more at this point.
Fisher has far superior distribution off the floor and a better defensive technique than Houghton.
It's all well being diplomatic with our cross-city rivals but the harsh reality that the reason why they will finish bottom-four this season is because they have some players who are no way as good as their fans think they are; I mean at the start of the season, I had to refrain from commenting on the brain dead know-it-all's who had the likes of Tickle and Radford ahead of Galea in their joint Rovers/FC combined 17's - nothing more than a joke really.
Of course there are some variables as Raynor, Berrigan & Manu are class players who would get into our 17 but the rest are average at best.
Of course FC fans will disagree, but my comments/quotes will be vindicated by a 12 - 16 point difference between the two teams come the end of the season and then Mrs Barista will no doubt move my quotes to her recycle bin...
Could be worth a bump that one.

| Some interesting responses to an interesting question. I believe we are top four material, indeed, I think the top two is not beyond us. Look how the season has so far panned out.
We are already ahead of what we achieved last season.
By that I mean we have had victories we never gained last term. Saints away, Wigan away, Hull away, Harlequins away, Wakefield home. Of course, we also gained an extra point at Odsal but that has been overturned by a point lost at home to Huddersfield with whom we drew last year.
However, providing we win the remaining equivilant games we won last year then that would put us 10 points up on last season's total which would mean a top four placing.
Of course injuries need to be kept to a minimum but our cover so far for the injuries we have had has proven more than adequate although I would worry if we lost Dobson, who I know would be replaced at seven by Murrell, or the likes of Galea and Newton (both of whom we were without for long periods last term).
If all things were equal which as we all know doesn't often happen in this game then I reckon it's within this close knit side's capabilities to win 10 of their remaining 13 games which would give us 41 points and that would leave us very close to the top of the pile come September.
Just as an aside. I was talking to a senior player in the squad on Saturday and he did say they fear no one in the league now and given the high confidence and tightness of the squad he cannot see where the next defeat will come from.
Brave words I know but nice to hear that sort of confidence abounds.

| I think you are arguably a top four side behind Leeds and Saints and real close to warrington now Smith has sorted out the baggage there.
Although something I will say is that it is like a breath of fresh air in SL to have KR up there and you supporters are pretty realistic in your chances, so just keep and enjoying the experience of being where you currently at!!

I think Wire are getting closer to us now Smith has sorted them out, rather than the other way round, the last time we played them and the league table bear my remark up.

I guess the answer is no, you aren't really a top side, surrendering in the play-offs exposed the true reality of Hull KR.
Average at best.

Indeed Dave. Rovers have been lucky in that us, Warrington, Bradford and - in the course of the regular season - Wigan all under performed.
It will be interesting to see how they cope next year with a weakened squad.

Lucky in regards to that but also lucky that theyve had the least injuries to key players in SL as well as getting a hell of a lot of 50/50 calls ive seen on tv. (dont tell Justine though)
