| Quote ="Gordon Gekko"Lets agree to disagree.
Washbrook is technically better in just about every department. He busts the line, he's quick, has great hands and defends superbly. He gets his head in tight and his contact is generally very sound. I would take him over Murrell any day of the week and twice on a Sunday.
It takes more than a late tackle on Brad Drew to get an England shirt
'"
No he isn't. Murrell has a far superior passing and kicking game by a million miles - absolutely no comparision, Murrell is naturally gifted in this department.
Washbrook is a far better runner of the ball and he can bust tackles.
Defensively both players have different attitudes to defence so it's probably more of a matter of opinion.
Horses for courses whether you want a runner/tackle buster (Washbrook) or a distiributor/kicker (Murrell).

Another point im actually friends with Danny Washbrooks uncle & aunt so wouldnt risk upsetting them if i didnt view him with an honest opinion.

Fair enough.
For me Washbrook has all the attributes to be the perfect modern day LF and is potentially top class. He is technically competant in all the necessary facets of the game and WILL become an international player in due course.
Its also worth noting he would have played for England in 2007 but for his shoulder injury

| Just to add some info for the Washy v Murrell debate
[urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics_player.php?hs1=2008&hp1=2128&hs2=2008&hp2=1921&stat=tries&season=2009[/url
Murrell played half the games Washy did so simply double his figures. By that estimation he would outperform Washy by 1 try and get 10 assists v Washys 5. Washy is outperforming Murrell in every other category, including tackle busys by 71 to 26 and clean breaks 14 to 10. Defensively Washy also made 714 tackles compared to an estimated 642 by Murrell.
All this and in a well beaten team! Puts the arguement to bed for me!!

But 6th in tackles made .
Did you forget to look at that stat
Averages 34 tackles per game.
Misses 4.5 on average but as mentioned earlier in the thread not in crucial areas that have led to shipping points

Purdham
Langley
Murrell
Id say currently he is amongst this group but if he maintains his form and stays injury free he could progress into Tony Smiths plans.'"
You can add Washy to that list.

Tony Smith also asked about his availabilty last year for the France game but due to the clubs injuries he and Agar agreed it would best to stay at Hull.
I can see GML's point about Washy in the Celtic game, (I think he was there that night doing the commentary) he did miss a few tackles but it was his 1st game back after injury and he hasn't played for 1st team since because his injury still isn't right. To judge him on that game would be unfair imo.
I'm not going to make to many comments on Murrell cos it's difficult when you don't see them play week in week out, GG watches both teams regular so maybe he can make a judgement better than most.

Better passing and kicking game. Also has the ability to put a massive shot on, not saying Washbrook can't just never seen him do one.
Murrell's work rate has been immense so far this season. Improving all the time.

It may be but he misses too many tackles and doesnt make enough yards to be international quality.
As said above both players are a way off being internataional quality.

Washy has far more super league experience than Murrell
because Murell put one hit on Brad Drew does that make him a better player???
I agree Murell does have a better kicking game...as for a passing game i think both players are on par there!!!
Washy for me everytime
