Fax & Donny are worlds apart when it comes to playing ability. You also had very few regular first teamers playing. To be honest I was surprised you got the win with the team you put out. This is not a dig at Rovers either, Morgan has always used the friendlies well blooding plenty of youngsters whilst also giving his 1st choice 17 a decent run out over the 3 or 4 friendlies you play.

Think you need to have more respect for Halifax, who were the 2010 Champions of the Campionship. It was a very good result for Rovers today. You can't compare Halifax with the likes of Doncaster.

Hall played well today, but so did the youngsters.

Ask the FC faithfull - they will know exactly when he plays for Rovers!

The whole idea of a friendly warm up game completely escapes you obviously.

Id say it was a good run out against the NL champions, and it sounds like they would of hammered Donny thereselves.

Cox also did a lot of good things, often taking in 2 or 3 Fax defenders, looks promising.

Really enjoyed the afternoon, think we were poor at times (e.g. the 25-40 minute mark where we conceded 3 tries without reply after going 0-12 up early-ish on), but another good run-out and valuable experience for the younger players. Must also have been great confidence boost for Welham getting a hat-trick ahead of the season.



Was great to see Makka again too (got great reception from Rovers fans as you would expect), what a legend.

Fair dues, but would love to hear their view on why Hull City require 10 pages of coverage for a Championship match every Monday?!

I have heard a few times that Morgs instructs this in the friendlies, silly penalties on own line and uncharacteristic errors to invite pressure, I can certainly see the advantage of doing this in a friendly. Reading the report on Hull's friendly, It doesn't seem like Donny had much ball in hand, IMO our close game with Fax was more beneficial.

I'm not saying that this is true and that Morgs does instruct this, someone may know?

I could see the pressure on the line bit, maybe give away a bit of ball and allow the opposition a bit of goal line pressure but I doubt he'd want to give away tries,especially break aways which seemed like what Fax got at the weekend.
