Cooper, Blythe, Riley on the fringes but we've got players on the fringes too.

Briers will qualify, but only in the same way that Murrell does for us. So that leaves Wood and Harrison.

The difference, you will no doubt point out, is that only 6 were overseas players. They [ibuy[/i British, we tend to look to the NRL. That is a debate worth having. The conflation of youth-development with who we bring in from outside the club and from where is a red herring that distracts from the real issue, IMO.

I'm guessing that, as you are resorting to joining the Grammar Police, you have lost the argument, it's always a sure fire sign. Feel free to continue correcting my errors.

I'anson must surely count aswell? He played a number of 1st team games- granted not here now but he still came through our system.

Some would say that someone whose sole weapon in debate shows themselves to be a fool, some would say that, not me, but some.

I've long been impressed with his ability to engage in debate with multiple posters simultaneously, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt he truely is a mass debater.

I wouldn’t disagree, I think it is an argument which frequently gets conflated, though undoubtedly linked they are two separate issues. Wire’s youth development hasn’t been good enough, but they aren’t relying on overseas players to fill that gap.

Wire need to bring more players in to the first team who have come through their academy but whilst they are waiting to bring those through they are looking to british for the majority of their squad which is what HKR should be doing.

As for Smokey and his Rules issue, as you were told at the time, it is within the rules to apply for dispensation, therefore by doing so, and being granted it, as we were, you are clearly operating within the RFL rules.
Beats me why anyone bothers to enter into a debate if they are clearly too pig headed or thick to accept there maybe another view other than their own.

It did take me a few days to work out where I had seen references to geese from when I first saw the "goose power"

As for overseas numbers as long as we are actively improving our youth development and giving the younger players contracts and not letting them go elsewhere I think we will see a future rovers squads with less and less "foreigners"

I hope not, I like the foreigners.

In terms of pursuing our self interest, we'll have to see how the team and the overseas players do.

And as you know, I don't buy the England argument.

However, even as someone who appreciates the cosmopolitan make-up of SL, with a blend of Brits and overseas players, 11 is a lot.
I understand the club's rationale and the circumstances, but still.
