It's going to take a while for everyone to fit together and Agar has yet to prove that he can successfuly run a squad at this level.
Is Long going to happy with what Agar's previous game plan has been, which is five drives and a kick? Admittedly, the kick will have more quality it in it.
Deacon hasn't been the same player since Vagana pulled his face off in the Tri-Nations, (which was a shame because he was having his best game in a GB shirt at the time) and if Russell Crowe came round your gaff as a twenty year old (or however old Sam Birgess is) and said; "How's about coming over to Australia and becoming a superstar in my footy team, or would you rather stay here playing your football in the permanent Winter of Odsal?" What would you say?'"
well it would depend on if it would better me cause souths rnt really setting the NRL on fire are they (thats if you keep up to date with it all) well like i said we will all see thats what my thoughts are on what the league will look like!! and i will strike a deal with you both!! if hull fc do finish 2nd i would like an apoligy basically for saying my knowledge of the game is tripe!! if you do well i will apoligise to you for saying i think you have a weaker team then ever!! and as to my sig who knows longy might like it in hull and be black and white through and through (at the end of the day its a chant thats all)

Wowza, I feel like I have just jumped back to the beginning of the 2006 season.
I'm sure this thread will be very popular and user names will be getting changed should that be repeated.

| Richard Horne supported KR..however he plays well in a B&W shirt
Paul Cooke..also did well in a B&W shirt
Rooney..Everton fan does well in a Man Utd shirt
Is Long really B&W, who cares but he will do what all sportsman do, his job

What odds would you want today on Hull FC finishing in the Top 2 in the league? Genuine (hypothetical) question.
I'd want [uat least[/u 12-1 for Rovers. 20-1 I'd take.

I'd want 25-1 for either rovers or Hull in the top 2, neither team has any strong chance of the top 2 IMO.

Calm down sweety, I never actually said your view was tripe.
I'll apologise now if it's going to soothe your delicate sensibilities, the truth is, I'm really not that bothered, this is a message board, it's not [ireally[/i all that serious.
My point was, 12th to 2nd is an awful big jump for a team that's still pretty much in transition with a coach that's yet to prove himself to the fans, never mind the rest of the league.
You won't need to apologise to me, not only will I have completely forgotten about this come October, I'm not that precious.

Given that at no point have I said that I believe Hull FC will finish in the top 2, your response would seem a tad silly as it would never be a bet that I personally place, but then I don't go down the gambling fools road anyway.
However anything is possible, as indeed happened in the 2006 campaign were we were also not forecast to finish in the top 2. Hull KR could well finish in the top 2. So forgive me for finding posts saying that it [iwon't [/ihappen as silly as your response. It only takes a few injuries, shock transfers, unpredicted results and anything can happen - but then we never see any of that go on in Rugby League, do we?

| It pains me to say but Rovers will do well again this year, maybe not fourth but there or there abouts. An organised side that just look like they're coached well, probably because they are! I reckon one or two youngsters (especially in the forwards) will become regulars this season. Hull and Rovers, two totally contrasting teams that will both do well IMO.

| =#0000BFLeeds - Head and shoulders above the rest.
=#FF0000Saints - Still a very good side. Losing Long may even give them a sense of the unknown this season.
Warrington - Surely this year they will produce in the League. Argubly, the strongest squad in the league.
Wigan - Think they will grind out 4th this year. Deacon will guide them, and I think LeuLeuai has the potential to be a top class hooker.
Catalans - Some very good additions to an already impressive squad.
Bradford - Much better side this season. Great pack and good halves. Maybe lacking slightly in the backs.
Huddersfield - Could be higher dependent on other issues, but I cant see them finishing any lower than this.
Hull - Very good pack and halves, but similar to Bradford, question marks over the back division we stop a serious challenge.
=#408000Hull KR - A few injuries in the pack could hit Rovers hard. A solid unit that will be hard to beat, but not strong enough to mount a serious challenge.
Castleford - Alot of clubs have improved massively, and Cas seem to have stuck with a pretty similar squad. Like Rovers, hard to beat, but not in contention.
Wakefield - Great coach and a decent team on their day. Alot again will depend on Brough.
Harlequins - Inexperienced team will cause a few shocks, but inexperience will get the better of them in most matches.
Crusaders - I think, like Quins, Crusaders will cause some shocks. They have made some astute acquisitions, but have been to hastily thrown together. Will get stronger as the season goes on.
=#FF8000Salford - Unlike the majority of the other teams, I dont see any improvement at all.

If we played Newton on his own we would still be stronger than some of the teams we fielded in the later 1990's. I think you best get practising that apology.
Or if you meant SL era by your "ever" statement, our 11th place finish in 2007 will set the benchmark. Anything above a next to last finish should also draw that well-rehed apology.

No, I'm not a gambler either. As you say, anything could happen. pmh was responding to somebody (else) who predicted second for Hull. Even he said it [icould[/i happen, before then saying it wouldn't. I used the odds merely as a way of assessing how likely you felt it was you'd be able come back in the autumn to say 'clamped'. If people were saying you won't make the play-offs - that would be leading with the chin. If you finish 2nd, I'll be the first to say it is a very fine performance. Well, maybe not the first.

Is that the same "proven quality" as:
Adam Dykes
Matt Sing
Nathan Blacklock
etc?
Our lack of knowledge of this level of "proven quality" has seen a constant rise from 11th, via 7th to 4th. I will stick with my coaches version of "quality" if its all the same to you.
Same old FC, full of bull from November to February. When does the season start again?

Adam Dykes was quality, the fact he was brittle was the downside.
Matt Sing, I admit was disappointing.
Blacklock had his moments.
As for today, Long ,his quality cannot be denied, although some think he is past it.Not me,I am h.a.p.p.y.
