I think a full statement regarding this situation will be released tomorrow by the RFL? seems a bit strange reading their quote on their official site,then Nigel Wood saying things on a radio station.

Im no legal eagle and dont pretend otherwise, perhaps you are, i dont know. In any case the following might suggest that Rovers can retain his registration and would need to be compensated should another club make an approach.

C1:5:5 When a Player's contract is terminated in accordance with the procedures for
Termination as set out in the Standard Player’s Agreement the Club may (subject to
compliance with Operational Rule Section C1:5:7 below), elect to retain the Player's
registration if it so wishes and shall in such circumstances be entitled to compensation in
the event of the Player being registered with another Club.

If this is the case then it would be up to Micheal Dobson to make that descision, however im pretty sure he has no desire to leave the club and if he did then i would have to question his loyalty.
I am confident that this will be all blown over and sorted in a couple of weeks or so and Dobo will be re registered as a Hull Kr player.

If you retained his registration he would still be on your quota.

I guess we will just have to wait until the RFL give a statement tommorrow to clarify the situation.

People are going way over-board with this . Dobson back when he's fit and mason has his passport . RFL will have given it the allclear

mentions nothing about positional bias. And I guess in the eyes of many a 23 cap Australian with several SOO appearances could well be classed as a higher standard player. The merit and benefit of each player to a team is irrelevant.

Why not get Billy Slater in instead of Briscoe then? Or Josh Morris for Fox? Oh hang on. There are quota rules.

Who knows what Rovers have agreed by the RFL. As it stands Rovers have Deregistered Dobson off the quota and 25 man playing roster. Hull KR In essense still retain his registration meaning he can't sign for another club as far as I can make out...... I'll await more from the RFL & Rovers to paint a clearer picture.

I think what allows Rovers to do this is the unique situation of having a player signed awaiting Non federation status and a quota player suffering a long term injury.

The Galea thing is the issue here imo. If he'd been able to become non-Fed sooner, none of this would be happening. You have to wonder how simple or otherwise the process is, and why it's taking so long. The Dobson injury allowed the de-registration that got Mason here so suddenly (I'm pretty sure he's had the visa for a while) and the whole situation is explained by the fact that he STILL hasn't got the Tongan passport (which again would have mean this wasn't happening).

All in all I think Rovers have dropped the ball on the whole thing. I'm also wondering if Dobson's injury isn't more serious, hence the deregistration? Will he be back this season? Or at all? You've had 4 games without Mason, why the sudden rush if the Galea thing can be sorted out soon?

What on earth does this mean? Rovers have not retained his registration - it's the very fact of de-registration that has allowed him to come off quota and be replaced by Mason.

This clause relates to the termination of a contract while still retaining registration. Rovers have had to do the opposite - de-registration enforcing termination of contract.

I thought this. It certainly has the deja vu feeling of the Webster jettisoning to make way for Dobson about it. What goes around...

think i've found what mason is missing

Whilst our board have a pretty good track record when it comes to using the "quota" rules to our advantage, I'd be lying if I said I was happy with this move. Hopefully they'll have made sure that no one else can sign Dobbo from under our noses, but if it happens they'll only have them selves to blame. And I along with many other Rovers supporters will not be happy. Whilst on paper Mason is a bigger signing, on the pitch Dobbo has probably been the most influential player we've had in years. Fingers crossed that this all pans out as the board say it will.

I won't be very happy if we lose Dobbo cos of this think a lot of fans won't be, why were the club not up front and honest with us and say he had not received his passport, we have all been led to believe everything is sorted and then this. Just think the way the whole willi Mason saga has been a complete disaster from start to finish with regards the paper work etc.
