Have you actually seen the Cowboys and Mason play this year?

He may well be a smash hit in Super League but he is not good enough to worry the NSW selectors and they are desperate for a winning side.

I didn't realise that the only decent players in Oz are those currently in the Origin set up. My word, they have a lot of dross over there.

Mason is in outstanding form in the NRL. and will look even better if he comes to Super League.

No it was just the most recent performance that sprang to mind. I take a fair interest in the NRL and stand by the fact that Willie Mason is not ripping up trees in Oz and to be called the player with the highest stock behind Lockyer beggers belief.

It is only my opinion.

I watch a fair bit of NRL but havnt seen enough of North Queensland on tv this year to form a view of Masons form. His appearance record and limited stats that i have seen still suggest he has had a fair season in the best comp in the world.
With regards "stock", i would wager that in the past decade there have been more headlines written about Mason than any other player in world rugby. Not always for the right reasons though! I guess it depends on what criteria you use to define "stock".

Our stances on this one are quite funny given that Mason is far more likely to join Hull than Rovers.

Not really mate cos I know there is a chance that he may end up at Hull with all the rumours, O'Meley link etc.

The stock debate is earlier in the thread and I think most people agree the news headlines aint necessarily a good thing.

The guy carries too much baggage for mine regardless of where he ends up playing his rugby next season.

Mason has been in really good form for the Cowboys this season but a lot of that is to do with how he has apparently settled down off the pitch in Townsville.

If Mason came over with the right frame of mind he would be a super signing the only risk is if he wanted to become 'The King of Hull' like he was in Sydney.

I don't think anyone would dispute that there's always an element of risk with a guy like Mason. My gripe is that people immediately scratch around looking for negatives whenever the other side get a decent player. It's not just one sided, but lordy it's tiresome.

Maybe he's calmed down a bit by hanging around with the Hippies on Magnetic Island , in Hull he could always join the Bohemian set in The Avenues.

Regardless of how much NRL you watch (which is completely irrelevant to my point anyway) has nothing to do with "profile stock" if you want to call it.

To the average RL fan e.g. the floating Rovers' supporter who ums and arrs about buying season tickets (who's exposure to Aus RL players as watching test highlights on the BBC every Autumn), would probably recognise Willie Mason's name and his face over all other Aus players during the last 5 or 6 years with the exception of Lockyer - a point certainly vindicated by my old man for instance, who instantly recognised Mason's face in the HDM where as he'd be hard pushed to identify with the likes most of the others you've mentioned.

All things considered both on and off the pitch, Mason would be a fantastic signing for Rovers and I hope we get him.

hes not coming anyway, i was talking to his dad in the back of my cab tomorrow and she said hes happy in Aus and is just trying to get a better deal out of some cowboys, or something like that
