I don't remember all this drama when wakey deregistered jason demetriou then re-registered him later on.

Kinda. More along the lines that an 'arrangement' with the RFL fell through once certain other parties became aware of it.

Apparently Nigel Wood has been on some radio station in Lancashire tonight and has stated Rovers can re-register Dobson as soon as Mason's Tongan passport is confirmed. He also confirmed Dobson's contract had to be terminated to allow de-registration so he is actually a free agent.

Depends if you count having to play by the letter of the rules as being hung out to dry I guess. Nobody forced you to sign Mason or to bring him over before his passport cleared.

Anyway - I hear lots of things that don't turn out to be true. Maybe this will be one of them.

Technically any such re-registration is at the discretion of the RFL Board. Seems that Nigel Wood has made his mind up already. I wonder if board members from certain other clubs will be as pliable...

Oh no I agree this is a problem we have gotten ourselves in simple as.
But if Wood is going on record to cover his own back when he was in the know and involved then it's a bit off IMHO.

I would certainly hope they do. This club is a total disgrace so far as the quota is concerned and the constant squeezing of foreign players into it's ranks is nauseating.

To be fair it's all just speculation, although the RFL does have previous when it comes to protecting itself at the expense of others.

Any player can play in the challenge cup upto round 4 providing they are registered with a member club as a player. After round 4, only players registered on the Monday preceeding the 5th round are allowed to play from thereon in. If you want dobson in the cup, he has to be registered by Monday 16th May or will become ineligle.

This closed the loophole after the Thackray incident at FC.

Im no legal eagle and dont pretend otherwise, perhaps you are, i dont know. In any case the following might suggest that Rovers can retain his registration and would need to be compensated should another club make an approach.

C1:5:5 When a Player's contract is terminated in accordance with the procedures for
Termination as set out in the Standard Player’s Agreement the Club may (subject to
compliance with Operational Rule Section C1:5:7 below), elect to retain the Player's
registration if it so wishes and shall in such circumstances be entitled to compensation in
the event of the Player being registered with another Club.

If this is the case then it would be up to Micheal Dobson to make that descision, however im pretty sure he has no desire to leave the club and if he did then i would have to question his loyalty.
I am confident that this will be all blown over and sorted in a couple of weeks or so and Dobo will be re registered as a Hull Kr player.

If you retained his registration he would still be on your quota.

I guess we will just have to wait until the RFL give a statement tommorrow to clarify the situation.

People are going way over-board with this . Dobson back when he's fit and mason has his passport . RFL will have given it the allclear
