Boudebza never played for Catalan! He was signed from Lezignan in the French league.

Thought he was released by Catalan first then went to French elite league.

Josh was immense today, and dug us out of a bit of a hole. All 4 of his tries were true winger's finishing straight out of the top drawer. His goalkicking needs improving though, hitting the post from the touchline into a headwind is simply unacceptable.

I thought JB was signed as a junior academy player for Catalans, but either he signed for Lezignan to get a first team opportunity or Catalans released him. He had Henderson, Pelissier and our own Ben Fisher standing in his way.
Similarly Mantellato had Darius Boyd, Akuile Uate, James Mcmanus, Kevin Naiquama and the emergence of the Matautia boys ahead of him at the Knights.

All the critics do not know anything about Mantellato or what drives him. I hope his critics continue bagging him because he will make you all eat humble pie.

Lets remember that he was playing against a team in the lower league (Even though a good one), so I think you are getting a bit carried away (You sound to me like a friend or family member).

As an outsider he looks a steady pro and you know what you will get with him, 100% who is a decent finisher and very dangerous under the high ball, outstanding kicker also.

I'd agree with the comments about him being quicker than he looks because of his stride length, he just lacks explosive pace.

Yes, he looked very tidy and presentable with his new barnet. I would imagine he felt at home at Odsal, as it's bowl like nature and open terracing is similar to many grounds in the NSW cup.
Alternatively we passed, kicked or palmed the ball to him a lot. Sio's supply line also suffers in the absence of Goulding.
I like the intensity and enthusiasm of Josh Mantellato and the sum of his combined skill sets and contributions are justification for playing him in his current role for the foreseeable future.

There are quite a few parallels between JM and Pat Richards.
Pat Richards didn't have a great first season for Wigan - playing at centre didn't help. But once he started playing on the wing and kicking goals for fun, his confidence improved and he became a Wigan legend.
Pat was and still is a long legged winger who was faster than be seemed (age has slowed him now).
The moral of the story is - don't judge a player on the first few games of a season.
