| Justin for me will always be remembered for helping to make us a superleague club again and we all owe him for that, but some of his selections baffle me. For me fisher is far superior to hodgson, though hodgson shows a certain amount of promise for the future. Matt cook has impressed every time he has played, yet seems to fall out of favour again without doing anything wrong and then there is jason netherton. Joking apart, can anyone tell me when he last broke a tackle or looked like breaking one.? Nobody can fault him for effort but the truth is he is nowhere near good enough, yet every team sheet seems to contain his name and just to put the icing on the cake he gets a new 2 year deal. Is it me or do we all feel the same.?

| netherton can tackle, fair enough, isn't that part of a forwards job? We have others who can tackle and offer far more going forward.Just not good enough to be in the 17 most weeks. back up fair enough but only get in the 17 when there are a few injuries/suspensions.

what im getting at mate is the majority of teams have a player or so who is good at the graft without being explosive.
dont get me wrong im not particulary supporting netherton(why would i as a loyal black and white),but a team would do well to have all their pack being full of hole punching players who also do lots of graft and stay under the cap.(how much cash left for the backs)
most games have periods were each team has more ball for 10-20 mins and the other side does a bit more defence, and vice versa, hence why most teams have both types of player.
morgan will have his first on the team sheet players,as will every other sl coach.its not favouratism so much as sticking by those you know can normally do the job.the old adage "form is temporary, class is permanant"springs to mind.

| Quote ="Mild Rover"I didn't. I chose to challenge and question their assumptions - is that unreasonable?
Peter Fox may be out of favour because he stole one of Justin's wine gums or some such, you're right I don't know. To me that doesn't seem credible. That Morgan picks what he believes to be the best team available seems a reasonable starting assumption. To suggest that something else is regularly influencing his decisions, at least on a conscious level, I'd want to see some compelling evidence. Pugwash gives us lists of, IHO, Justin's favoured and disdained...
=#FF0000
[uJustin Doesn't like...[/u
Fox - 'excluded at the drop of a hat', much as he has been superb in previous years, not really IMO.
Wheeldon - 12 games in SL, if my count is right. Somewhat underated IMO, but coming through we have...
Taylor - A youngster who was looking to get in to double figures for SL apps this year and with 11 (and a new contract) already
Watts - Hardly been pulling up trees this year, but 13 games, just one less than the supposedly undropable Jason Netherton.
Hall - Brought in to cover the centres. Welham has been good. Webster less so but I'd pick him ahead of Hall at the moment.
Fisher - First HKR to hit 100 SL appearances, 15 of 18 games this year. He could just have easily gone in the other list.
Cook - Okay, fair enough an odd one.
&
Clinton -
=#80BF40[uJustin likes[/u
Murrell - on the fringes of the England set last year and played at 7 for a chunk of the year.
Vella - still probably our best prop. A bit like being the dryest bit of the sea currently, but even so.
Briscoe - Still our best full back, IMO
Webster - well it's him or Hall.
Newton - oh c'mon it'll be Dobson next... oh.
and now Dobson who is not the player he was has joined the Jason Netherton for King club'"
Hally was far the best player at the start of the season scoring tries when the rest was all over the place you'd do best to remember that,if the whole warrington team targeted the best centre in the world there going to get by him,,iv'e nothing against webster at all but whenever they seem like losing he fains a injury and gets off

Harsh. Netherton, relative to the blockbusting front rowers of Clinton, Vella and Watts, is not too bad in this regard. Just thought I'd add some context here, although with FC busting more tackles than any other team at this point (522), it's a tad unfair perhaps. And so pleasing to see the much-mocked "Tacklebuster" Dowes ahead of all Rovers props this season, so far.

Poor is not a word to describe Nev, he is no Phil Lowe, but as I have often said there is no better player to have in your 17 when you are holding a narrow lead with 10 minutes to go. A lot of people on here seem to think we can have 17 players who have pace, can get through a gap and score tries in abundance, but that is not what a squad is about, even the likes of Wigan and Wire have players who do the hard work, it's part and parcel of the game.
I cannot recall Nev having a bad game, whereas most the others do have them, he is consistant in the fact he does his job well and never lets the team down. I am happy he has signed another deal as we need players like him as well as the Dobsons, Greens and Galeas. I bet if you asked the Rovers players their opinions on him, not one would have a bad word for him as a player.

Eh? I was responding to a post about criticism of Netherton's tackle-busting and providing some relevant context for people which shows this is a bit unfair. My added insight was that since Vella, Clinton (who I incorrectly showed with 5 originally, should have been 7, sorry Moobs) and Watts between them have around the same number of tackles as bench player Dowes so was helpfully suggesting this as a development opportunity for your front row. No need to de-rail, cockle. What's next, 10-5?

We bust them against other sides.

Jesus. That is awful, it's been a combination of things this season, terrible line speed, lack of aggression and inability to properly slide in defence, but, if your pack is so soft cocked that it never gets you any territory or domination then you're always going to be put under pressure and defending more sets in pressure areas of the field.
For the money we are probably paying him, Clinton has been an utter farce this year. As blakeysrobin said the other week, we'd make more metres by throwing him, physically picking him up and throwing him at the opposition.

You've never seen nev have a bad game, fair one, but i've never seen him a great one either. gonna have to agree to disagree cos i think he's average at best and should be back up at most. not in the 17 week in week out.

I take it you weren't at wakefield away, when his 2 penalties lost us the game in just the circumstances you describe.
