The school bought the tickets and gave them to the children. How does that make them free?

Because the kids didn't pay to attend? Now your definition of free might be different to mine but if someone bought a ticket and gave it to me I'd say I got it for free

So the 1,500 tickets that the SMC buy are classed as free and the attendance figures are exaggerated for each game.

1500 tickets? Where has that come from? I assume you're referring to premier club tickets which give club members access to Hull FC games as well as city? Only fair that Hull should be recompensed for tickets bought by city fans which give access to Hull FC games don't you think? 1500 seems a lot though and at current rates would be in excess of £750k a season. Are you sure about your info? I can assure you that premierclub passes aren't free in anycase
Anyway, you have to scan your pass in the west stand reception so the attendance figures will only include those actually in the ground and if they're

| Quote ="fc-eaststander"been reading some of the stuff about free tickets been given away for todays game, I applaud the thinking behind this wish we was able to do it more, I think there maybe a problem with the agreement we have for this to happen all the time
But I am a great believer in getting schools behind the team why not if the seats are going to be empty I would give a couple of thousand away to schools in the west of hull every game barring the derby, get people in to watch rugby and maybe some will get hooked the more we spread the word about sport the better,it would be great if both hull clubs got 16,00 17,00 every game what an atmosphere that would be on derby day'"
Good sensible post.
I too think the 'not free' ticket initiative is genius - Rovers are adding on 1,500 potential new fans, getting them into the game, and when they're there they'll probabley spend money anyway. The fact it's in a stand where no one would want to pay to be in makes it all worth while anyway, and Rovers are still getting cash for the tickets. Hats off to the club on this one, great piece of marketing.

They do not stated premier club tickets.
"We are now obligated to buy in excess of £140,000 worth of passes every year.

Damn, I bought mine and Mrs G's passes this season, meaning she's getting in for free? Next year i'll buy hers and she can by mine and we can both get in for free, can't figure out why i hadn't thought of this before.

| Good logic that Mr. Grafton, we should extend that idea.
At the end of the season, we all write our names down on a bit of paper and chuck them in a barrel. Then we all draw a name out (a bit like Secret Santa) and you have to buy that persons pass for next year.
This way, everyone gets in free for every game.

| Thought the new stand was ok, maybe a bit small and was disappointed with the facilities under the stand, but defiantly a step in the right direction and a massive improvement for away fans. Would certainly come back again, after not coming to a derby for a few years.

What was disappointing about the facilities? The north stand concourse seems to be done to a better spec than most grounds. Like saints for instance.

So am I right with my maths here the smc spend £140,000 on passes each year , season tickets are aprox £220 each (mine was £255 on the dd scheme)
140,000 divided by 220(aprox) = 636 passes . ? Is that correct ?

Mainly the toilets, no where enough when the stand is full, I queued for 10 minutes and nearly missed the 2nd half, in fact when I got back to my seat just as the 2nd half started the stand was less than half full as people were still queuing for the toilet and food/drinks.

This was the main point of contention when Hudgell fell out with the council over the design during construction.
What were the band (Cuba Drive) like?

You may want to refer to Neil Hundgells article about some of the councils c*ck ups when building the stand. The wrong colour cladding was just one of many points the club were not happy with. You would think something like the number of toilets needed for 2600 fans at half time would be an excel spreadsheet job nowadays. Plenty of stadia built over the last decade to know what is needed for a half time rush.
Maybe Phil Webster could shed some light

I can see why he was upset, will be ok for smaller games, but a nightmare for bigger ones.
Didn't hear the band, they were setting up before the game under there, but never heard them play.
On second thoughts were they the ones who sung red red robin before the game?

The band were quite good. Did a lot of their own stuff first and then some covers.
The fans looked like they were enjoying it

There you are then. The tickets were paid for but not by the people who used them. Therefore Rovers did not 'give away' free tickets.
